Michelle Obama Leads Team USA To Victory Over UK In Star-Studded Dodgeball Game

Former First Lady Michelle Obama led Team USA to victory over Team UK in a dodgeball came that aired on James Corden’s “The Late Late Show” on Monday night.

Daily Mail reported that Michelle led a team of female American celebrities that included Allison Janney, Mila Kunis, Lena Waithe, Melissa McCarthy, and Kate Hudson. They competed against a team of British men that was made up of Corden, Harry Styles, Benedict Cumberbatch, John Bradley and Reggie Watts, who is a American citizen.

Before the dodgeball game began, Michelle pumped up her team by saying, “When they go low, we go low. Cause that’s dodgeball.”

“You would not believe how easy it was to get people to do this,” Michelle said earlier in the segment. “All I had to say was you’re going to throw a ball at James Corden.”

Michelle was one of the most active participants in the game, taking out Styles by brutally pegging him between his legs as he tried to jump out the ball’s path. Team USA immediately pointed and laughed at the One Direction singer as he clutched his midsection and fell to the floor in the aftermath of the hit.

After the loss, Team UK comforted themselves with a traditional British tea as they discussed how much they enjoyed their “smashing game.”

Video of the game has immediately gone viral, being viewed over two million times.

Afterwards, Corden opened up about how the game came about.

“It was kinda ludicrous, really. Michelle Obama got in touch with the show and [asked]… ‘Is there something fun we could do?’ And we were like, ‘Yes, of course,'” Corden told Entertainment Tonight. “And then we thought, ‘Well, what if we played dodgeball?’ That seemed a silly idea, so then we asked some other friends and got this ridiculous cast list of people to come and do it… It’s so silly.”

“It was her idea. She wanted to play it. She played the game,” Corden said of Michelle. “… You have a real moment when you go, ‘I can’t throw a ball at Michelle Obama. It’s Michelle Obama.’ And then before you know it she throws one in your face and you go, OK. It’s on.”

Michelle has been on the road for the past few months promoting her memoir “Becoming” by making appearances all over the world. At the moment, Michelle is on vacation in France with her husband and their two daughters.
