Meat lovers are getting some epic justice on a vegan woman who sued her neighbors over the smell of grilled meat.
According to Law & Crime, Australian Cilla Carden told a local news station, “They’ve put it there so I smell fish, all I can smell is fish. I can’t enjoy my back yard. I can’t go out there.” She complained, “It’s been devastating, it’s been turmoil, it’s been unrest, I haven’t been able to sleep.”
Carden launched her legal battle in 2018, but it went nowhere after the Australian court system threw out her claims. She attempted to take it all the way to the state’s Supreme Court, but the Justice also dismissed her case. Supreme Court Chief Justice Peter Quinlan dismissed Carden’s appeal last month after stating “that there is an arguable case that the [original] tribunal denied Ms Carden procedural fairness or acted to her disadvantage so as to cause a miscarriage of justice.” The judgement continued, “Ms Carden was given a fair opportunity to present her case, and the learned tribunal member conducted the proceedings fairly and appropriately.”
Objective reporting for the educated American.
And now meat lovers are holding a massive barbecue right outside of her home to rub it in her face. Baily Mason, a meat lover in the area, has organized the event. A description of the massive BBQ reads:
Cilla Carden has a problem with her neighbours cooking meat on their BBQ, because she’s a vegan. Recently taking them to the Supreme Court!
Don’t let Cilla destroy a good old Aussie tradition, join us for a community BBQ in protest of her actions, and help Cilla Carden GET SOME PORK ON HER FORK.
BYO hotdog buns, p.s. NO VEGANS
A Facebook page for the event boasted 5,000 attendees at the time of this writing–and as this story gets out in the news, that number is likely to increase significantly.
“We currently need, more food trucks or vendors, live entertainment, volunteers,” the event organizer wrote early on Wednesday. “AND MORE BBQS!!!!”
As this story gains traction, it’s likely that news media will show up to cover the massive event–and Carden’s reaction. Given her track record, it doesn’t seem like she’s a woman with a great sense of humor, so we can imagine she will be furious when the meat lovers arrive outside her property! And it should go without saying that any relationship she previously had with her neighbor is forever damaged.
