Rashida Tlaib Meets With Terrorist-Supporting, Pro-Palestinian Group

Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib has found herself in hot water this week after she met with a controversial pro-Palestinian organization that has encouraged violence against Israel, defended the use of terrorism against the Jewish state, and called for the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that was just photographed meeting with members of the Palestine Youth Movement during the Arab Texas Festival held recently in Dallas, Texas. This organization is known for it’s vitriolic rhetoric against Israelis and Jews and has previously been caught glorifying the leaders of anti-Semitic terrorist organizations.

Tlaib’s meeting with the PYM organization shows once again that despite being a member of Congress, she is willing to meet with some of the most radical and fringe anti-Israel groups.

The PYM organization has openly called to “stop the Zionist occupation and colonization of all Palestine” and requires “full support for the Palestinian resistance,” which includes emphatically supporting the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions against Israel (BDS) movement, something that Tlaib openly supports as well. On social media, the group has memorialized so-called Palestinian martyrs, or those killed or imprisoned while carrying out terrorist attacks on Israel. In fact, at least three of the people who were honored were known operatives of the Hamas terror group.

Breitbart reported that in addition, PYM USA sponsors the Ghassan Kanafani Scholarship, named after a leader of the terrorist group PFLP. Back in 2017, PYM USA sent out an email to supporters in which they praised the PFLP terrorist and framed the scholarship as a way to “honor the work and legacy of Ghasan Kanafani as part of the larger history of our ongoing liberation struggle.”

“Born on this day in 1936 in Acre, Kanafani dedicated his life to the Palestinian struggle both through his work with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) as well as his writing,” the email states. “The fire and brilliance of Kanafani’s works stems in large part from their ability to illuminate and to inspire.”

This comes after Tlaib made headlines when she was banned from entering Israel because of her support for the BDS Movement. She then sent a letter to Israeli Interior Minister Aryeh Deri begging to be let into the country so that she could visit her grandmother, and though he relented, Tlaib refused to go. She argued that she would not visit Israel unless she could go as a “free American United States congresswoman.

Tlaib’s trip to Israel was co-sponsored by the anti-Israel organization Miftah, led by Hanan Ashrawi, who is “a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s executive committee and supporter of BDS.”
