Sarah Palin’s Husband Files For Divorce

Todd Palin, the husband of former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, just shocked the world when he filed for divorce after 31 years of marriage.

Daily Mail [1] reported that Todd filed for divorce on Friday in Anchorage Superior Court citing “incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife.” Both 55 years-old, the Palins have been married since 1988 and have five children together.

The petition, which Todd filed on his 55th birthday, uses the initials TMP and SLP instead of their full names. Anchorage blogger Craig Medred was able to trace the filing back to the couple through their marriage date and the birth date of their only child who is a minor, 11-year-old son Trig.

Todd asked for joint legal custody of Trig in his filing. They are also y are also parents to four adult children: Track, 30, Bristol, 28, Willow, 25, and Piper, 18. Kimberlee Colbo, who is representing Todd in court, officially requested that the divorce be designated as confidential as it moves forward.

Sarah was elected governor of Alaska back in 2006, and her family became nationally famous two years later when John McCain named her as his running mate in the 2008 election. At the time, Todd was working as a commercial fisherman and oil field worker, and he became a media sensation that was nicknamed the “First Dude.” After losing the presidential election to Barack Obama and Joe Biden, Sarah became a prominent voice in the Republican Party, particularly in the rise of the Tea Party. She was also one of the first people to endorse Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

In 2009, Sarah denied reports of “extramarital affairs on both sides and an impending divorce” between her and Todd.

“No truth to any of the rumors. No divorce. No affairs. No land in Montana. Nothing! All lies and fabrications!” a spokesman for her said.

Sarah later appeared to deny the rumors on social media, writing, “Yet again, some so-called journalists have decided to make up a story.”

During an interview last year, Sarah and Todd opened up about their 30 year marriage. Sarah explained that she met Todd in high school when he started playing on a basketball team that was coached by her father.

“I wrote TP on my hand because he was like my first boyfriend — the first kid I ever had a crush on,” Sarah said, and then [one] night at the dinner table my dad saw that his initials were on my hands he was like that was kind of a floozy thing to do! I was so embarrassed.”

When asked about their long marriage, Sarah replied, “Well it’s not easy there’s ups and downs and I think people just need to remember when you’re on that downswing there’s going to be an upswing, you know to hang in there… but we had hellish times.”
