A top Republican strategist just spoke out to warn that singer Taylor Swift might end up playing a key role in the 2020 presidential election. This comes after she spoke out to bash President Donald Trump and express her intent to “do everything I can for 2020.”
Raw Story [1] reported that GOP strategist Evan Siegfried was asked about Swift’s political activism by MSNBC host Alison Morris.
“At the same time, Taylor Swift did to something very good, urging people to register to vote months before the election,” Siegfried said. “A lot of young people did that.”
“She’s interested in politics and she’s going to do everything she can — let’s not forget the election in 2016 really was won by 77,744 votes, and that’s the margin of difference in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan,” he continued. “If she can get 10,000, 15,000 people registered who didn’t vote in 2016 — combined with other efforts — that will help.”

Swift having any kind of power in the 2020 presidential election is very bad for Trump, as she has made it clear that she is very much against him being reelected. In a recent interview, Swift reminisced about how “amazing” Barack Obama’s presidency was.
“We were in such an amazing time when Obama was president because foreign nations respected us,” Swift said. “We were so excited to have this dignified person in the White House. My first election was voting for him when he made it into office, and then voting to reelect him. I think a lot of people are like me, where they just didn’t really know that this could happen.”
“But I’m just focused on the 2020 election. I’m really focused on it,” she continued. “I’m really focused on how I can help and not hinder. Because I also don’t want it to backfire again, because I do feel that the celebrity involvement with Hillary’s campaign was used against her in a lot of ways.”
This comes months after Swift spoke out to blast President Trump’s administration, claiming that they are trying to take away rights from everyone “who isn’t a straight white male.”
“Rights are being stripped from basically everyone who isn’t a straight white cisgender male. I didn’t realize until recently that I could advocate for a community that I’m not a part of,” she said. “It’s hard to know how to do that without being so fearful of making a mistake that you just freeze. Because my mistakes are very loud.”
