Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich spoke out on Monday to slam House Democrats, going so far as to say that their impeachment efforts against President Donald Trump are a clear violation of American law.
Fox News [1] reported that Gingrich specifically slammed Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff, who have been leading the charge against Trump.
“Schiff is an embarrassingly dishonest person. Pelosi has become an embarrassingly dishonest person,” Gingrich said during an interview with Fox & Friends.

This comes after a motion to censure Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, for his “parody” reading of the phone call transcript of President Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukraine July 25 phone call with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky earned the cosponsorship of 135 lawmakers. The resolution was introduced last month by Republican Rep. Andy Biggs, and it has since earned the support of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., and House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney, R-Wyo.

While Democrats have the majority in the House at the moment, Republicans still have the ability to force a vote on the matter.
In a different recent interview, Gingrich defended the role he played in the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton after Hillary Clinton called it a “partisan effort to take down a president.” Gingrich pointed out that Clinton was found guilty on 11 counts, including lying, obstruction of justice and perjury.
“The Democrats in the House are desperately trying to manufacture something. They wake up every morning saying I know Trump did something terrible, I wonder what it was,” Gingrich said. “They have set up a rigged game that violates every core principle in American justice, violates the Constitution’s guarantee of due process, and I think that the American people are only going to get very sick of this.”
During another Monday interview with CBS News [5], Gingrich said that if it were up to him, there would be no members of the media in the White House because they are so biased against Trump.
“If I had had the ability to do it, there wouldn’t be a White House press corps in the White House,” Gingrich responded.
“Why is that?” asked anchor Anne-Marie Green.
“Because they’re all the enemies of the president,” Gingrich said. “I mean why would you call on people who get up every morning saying I hate Donald Trump, I wonder how I can make his life miserable?”
“Well this is the opportunity for the president to speak to the people, right?” Green said.
“No, the president can speak to the people anytime,” Gingrich replied. “He doesn’t need to speak to a bunch of reporters who are then going to be distorted by their editors.”
