Earlier this week, liberal “The View” cohost Joy Behar said that the U.S. government should confiscate guns from the American people without telling them. Now, these comments have come back to haunt Behar, as a former police officer is firing back at her in a big way.
“It’s reinforcing the fact that conservatives feel like the liberals are prepared to lie, cheat, and steal in order to win,” former police officer Dianna Muller said during an appearance on Fox & Friends on Wednesday morning.
Fox News reported that Muller was discussing comments that Behar made on Monday, when she was talking about Beto O’Rourke withdrawing from the 2020 presidential race. Behar said that it was a foolish move for O’Rourke to talk about confiscating guns before he was elected, saying that Democratic candidates should wait until after they are elected to go after Americans’ guns.
Objective reporting for the educated American.
“They should not tell everything they’re going to do. If you’re going to take people’s guns away, wait until you get elected — then take the guns away,” she said. “Don’t tell them ahead of time.”
Muller, however, was not having any of it.
“How disgusting is it that a woman with such reach and such influence on millions of viewers on a major network can propose for a candidate to lie in order to get their way and then impose a different will on the people,” Muller said.
Earlier this year, Muller went before the House Intelligence Committee to offer a fiery defense of the Second Amendment and for assault weapons. Afterwards, she called upon all gun owners to stay vigilant and to “get involved and engaged” because the Second Amendment is at stake.
“What we’re up against is a very well-organized, well-funded effort to take guns away from American citizens,” said Muller, who is also the founder of gun advocacy group The DC Project. “If you are a gun owner and you feel like you’re under attack, you need to call your congressmen and, you know, it sounds cliche, but it’s more important now than ever.”
While testifying before Congress, Muller made the bold declaration that she would not comply with a proposed assault weapons ban, should it be put into law. She added that many other law enforcement officers agree with her, and to chastise the left for using phrases like “weapons of war” to incite emotion.
“More people are killed with hammers and blunt objects than all rifles combined according to FBI statistics so it doesn’t make sense to me that this is going to solve the problem,” Muller said.
