GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy Lets Loose On Adam Schiff – ‘Lied Numerous Times’

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy called out Democratic Representative Adam Schiff on Thursday, saying that he believes the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee has lied numerous times during his tenure. Specifically, McCarthy claimed that Schiff has lied about his knowledge of the Donald Trump whistleblower.

“I think Adam Schiff has lied numerous times. I do not think Adam Schiff is fit to be in this position of running the Intel committee,” McCarthy said at his weekly press briefing, according to The Daily Caller News Foundation [1].

Referring to Schiff repeatedly as “Adam Shift,” McCarthy accused the leftwing congressman of lying throughout the Trump-Russia investigation, as well as during the impeachment inquiry.

“You just asserted, and several Republicans said this yesterday at the hearing, Adam Schiff either personally met with the whistleblower or knows the identity of the whistleblower, which he continues to deny,” a reporter asked McCarthy. “Can you say it plainly — do you think he’s lying?”

“Yes,” replied McCarthy. “And, I don’t think it’s the first time he’s lied to us, either.”

This came one day after Schiff repeatedly claimed during the first impeachment hearing that he does not know the identity of the Trump whistleblower.

“I do not know the identity of the whistleblower, and I’m determined to make sure that identity is protected,” Schiff said during a back and forth with Rep. Jim Jordan.

Schiff admitted last month that he had given misleading statements about interactions between one of his aides and the whistleblower, who filed the August 12 complaint that started the Democrat-led impeachment inquiry. It was reported in The New York Times in October that the whistleblower had met with an unnamed Schiff aide before filing a complaint against Trump with the Intelligence Community Inspector General. This directly contradicted a statement that Schiff had made in September, when he said, “we have not spoken directly with the whistleblower.”

“We would love to talk directly with the whistleblower,” Schiff continued.

Though Schiff initially stated that he intended to have the whistleblower testify before Congress, he has since backed down from that, claiming that it is no longer necessary for this to happen other because witnesses deposed in the impeachment proceedings have corroborated the whistleblower’s allegations.
