A transcript for a deposition given last month in the Democratic-led impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump was just released, and what it has revealed is raising some serious eyebrows.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reported that the transcript shows that Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) got into a very heated exchange during the October 14 deposition of Fiona Hill, who was the top White House adviser on Russia issues until July.

The transcript shows that during the deposition, Gaetz suddenly burst in to protest the fact that members of the House Judiciary Committee were not allowed to take part in the proceedings. Schiff, who is overseeing the impeachment push, told Gaetz to “absent yourself” from the room, but the Republican refused to back down.

As Gaetz continued to protest, he garnered the support of GOP Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, the ranking member of the oversight committee, which is one of the three committees taking part in the impeachment proceedings.

At one point in the heated exchange, Schiff even said he would deduct from the time allotted to Republicans to question Hill because of Gaetz’s intrusion.

“Mr. Gaetz, you’re not permitted to be in the room,” Schiff said, according to the transcript.

“I am on the judiciary committee,” Gaetz fired back.

Schiff responded by saying that the judiciary committee was not a part of the hearing.

“I thought the judiciary committee has jurisdiction over impeachment,” Gaetz said, to which Schiff replied, “Mr. Gaetz, you’re not permitted to be in the room. Please leave.”

That’s when Jordan interrupted to defend Gaetz.

“Mr. Chairman, really?” asked Jordan.

“Yes, really,” Schiff responded.

“You’re going to include members of Congress on committees that have roles of impeachment,” Gaetz continued, undeterred.

“Mr. Gaetz, take your statement to the press,” Schiff said. “They do you no good here. So please, absent yourself.”

“Mr. Chairman, I think in the 20 hours of testimony we’ve heard in the two previous interviews, there have been a grand total of 12 members of Congress present,” Jordan continued in his defense, according to The Hill. “I don’t think it’s going to hurt to have a 13th member actually hear something that, in my judgment, all 435 members of Congress should be entitled to hear.”

Explaining that the hearing would not start until Gaetz left, Schiff said that the Republican’s “dilatory tactic will come out of the minority’s time for questioning.”

Though Gaetz denied that he was engaging in a “dilatory” tactic, but he eventually left the hearing.
