Top Aide Slams Media For Ignoring Trump’s Close Bond With Barron

A top aide for Donald Trump let loose on the mainstream media on Friday for ignoring the president’s close relationship with his 13 year-old son Barron.

“The president’s just a really caring father and you don’t see that,” acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said while appearing at Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

“The press would never show you that because it doesn’t fit that image of him, the press wants him to be a terrible monster,” he continued, according to Daily Mail. [1] “But he feels the way about his children like everybody else does.”

Mulvaney went on to say that he noticed Trump’s bond with Barron during his first trip with the president. During this trip, he witnessed Trump calling Barron numerous times to check in on the boy. He even called him specifically to let him know when his helicopter would be returning to the White House.

“And I don’t know the president that well,” Mulvaney said of his relationship with Trump going into the trip. “And you might watch late night television, or see clips of it on TV and so forth, ‘Saturday Night Live,’ about his relationship with his family. And I don’t know anything about his relationship with his family.”

“I bet he called his son three times, four times on the trip,” he said. “Including to have a ‘dad’s coming home on the helicopter if you want come see us land [conversation].'”

Mulvaney explained that “people always forget that Barron’s only – I think he’s 13-years-old.”

“We don’t think about him because the kid’s a giant – he’s like 6-foot-4, 6-foot-5 – I’m not making that up by the way, the kid is absolutely – he’s huge – but he’s still very young,” Mulvaney continued. “And was 10 or something like that when the president was elected.”

“And the president is just a really caring father,” he concluded. “You don’t see that.”

Since Trump took office, Barron has been attacked by various public figures like Joy Behar and Rosie O’Donnell, who went so far as suggesting that he is autistic. The Trump family has responded to these attacks by asking for privacy for their 13 year-old son, who they want to have as normal a childhood as possible.

Mulvaney also criticized the media for ignoring Trump’s efforts to fight the coronavirus for weeks in favor of covering his impeachment trial.

“While real news was happening, the press was covering their hoax of the day,” Mulvaney said. “What I might do do calm the markets is tell people to turn of their TV for 24 hours.”
