Melania Trump To Star In New PSAs To Fight Coronavirus

The White House has just announced that First Lady Melania Trump will be starring in a series of new PSAs the goal of which will be to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Daily Mail [1] reported that Melania will be joining U.S. health officials in the PSAs. The White House said in a statement that Melania and the officials will “appear in national broadcast PSAs that communicate the most important ways Americans can protect themselves and those most at risk.”

The officials set to join Melania in the campaign include Surgeon General Jerome Adams, infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci, and Dr. Deborah Birx, who is the coordinator of the coronavirus task force. These officials have all regularly been seen with President Donald Trump at press conferences updating the public on the coronavirus situation.

Melania has been taking to Twitter often this week to try and encourage the American people during this trying time of self isolation.

“Consider taking advantage of time working from home to connect with your loved ones via email or FaceTime, spend time w family, or work on your well-being by reading a book or spending time on a hobby,” the First Lady tweeted yesterday.

Today, she got on Twitter once again to encourage American children whose schools have been cancelled to continue their learning at home.

“I know these can be trying times for parents & kids. I encourage students at all grade levels to continue their learning at home. Scholastic Learn At Home allows open access to daily learning,” she wrote alongside a link to a site that allows students to stay active with their learning.

During her time as First Lady, Melania has stayed busy with her Be Best campaign, which aims to help children. CNN reported [5] that one of the three pillars of the Be Best campaign is the health and wellbeing of young people.

“I think this would be a great time to remind Americans about the ‘Be Best’ campaign,” said Katherine Jellison, an expert on First Ladies who is also a professor of history at Ohio University. “She could remind the public, especially youngsters, that in times of stress, kind words to one another are a national duty. Especially at a time when family members are by necessity spending more time with one another, the best thing that everyone can do is be nice to one another.”
