Nancy Pelosi Snaps at Reporter Who Compares Allegations Against Kavanaugh to Those Against Biden

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi cut off a reporter today when she was asked a question about the sexual assault allegations against Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

A reporter asked Pelosi for her reaction to the sexual assault allegations against then Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh to those against Biden–and the media’s treatment of each allegation.

According to the Daily Mail [1], the reporter said, “As far as Biden is of concern, how do Democrats square with the idea that they are essentially – they’re standing by Biden, but they’re using a comparatively different standard than with Kavanaugh when they demanded an investigation on Justice Kavanaugh when a very similar allegation came out on him.”

Pelosi cut off the reporter and responded, “Well let me just say, I respect your question, and I don’t need a lecture or a speech. I have complete respect for the Me Too movement. I have four daughters and one son, and there’s a lot of excitement around the idea that women will be heard and be listened to There is also due process.”

She explained, “There was never any record. Nobody ever came forward and nobody ever came forward to say something about it other than the principle involved. I am so proud – the happiest day for me this week was to support Joe Biden for President of the United States. He is the personification of hope and optimism and authenticity for our country – a person of great values.”

Pelosi added, “And so I want to remove all doubt in anyone’s mind – I have great comfort level with the situation as I see it. With all due respect for any woman who comes forward with all the highest regard for Joe Biden. That’s what I have to say about that. Thank you.”

At that point, the Speaker walked away from the podium.

In 2018, the media blanketed the airwaves with stories about allegations against Kavanaugh, made by Chrstine Blasey Ford. Ford alleged that Kavanaugh made unwanted sexual advances at her in the 1980s, when the pair attended the same party as teenagers. At the time, Democrats insisted that Ford’s allegations be heard and that Kavanaugh be fully investigated before being confirmed to the Supreme Court.

Ford did not reveal details about the assault.

Today, Pelosi is insisting that because Reade did not come forward with the allegations in the 1990s, she believes the Biden campaign that the incident did not occur. The Speaker said earlier on Thursday during a CNN interview that she is “satisfied” with Biden’s response to the allegations.

On CNN’s New Day, Pelosi said, “I have great sympathy for any women who bring forth an allegation. I’m a big, strong supporter of the Me Too movement. I think it’s been a great contribution to our country, and I do support Joe Biden. I’m satisfied with how he has responded. I know him, I was proud to endorse him the other – on Monday. Very proud to endorse him. And so I’m satisfied with that.”
