While discussing her plans to include prisoner relief into future COVID-19 relief legislation, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi exploited the Bible to prove her point by quoting a parable found in Matthew 25:
“In our caucus, we are very devoted to the Gospel of Matthew. ‘When I was hungry, you fed me. When I was homeless, you sheltered me. When I was in prison, you visited me,’ and so this for us is part of our value system.”

Of course, this verse really isn’t being used in the best context, which many users on Twitter were quick to point out:
“There’s also that do not kill do not steal thingy…”

“Exactly!!! Pious Nancy gets caught in her lies again. Which part of her value system is that? Using the Gospel like she does is part of the devil’s work.”

“Hypocrisy. When I was hungry, you fed me with my neighbors forcefully taken earnings, when I was homeless, you sheltered me with my neighbors forcefully taken earnings. @SpeakerPelosi cannot justify her amoral & hedonistic worldview with a Biblical worldview; they conflict.”
