Leftists pile on Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling for speaking truth on biological difference between men and women

OPINION: Harry Potter author British writer J.K. Rowling is in trouble again with the hard left gender lobby, all for saying that “trans” men are still biological men and “trans” women are still biological women.

Rowling is an icon to other writers. Yes, for her success. But more so because just before her success, when her first Harry Potter book came out, she was couch surfing and hardly had a penny to her name. She is the inspirational figure that proves you will will only win with persistence.

Rowling is no conservative–far from it. But on issues of gender identification she is spot on. As many sensible second wave feminists understand, how can you have any kind of feminism when the entire concept of gender is fluid? Or, in other words: men who pretend to be women, no matter how far they go, are still men.

Rowling said Saturday to her 14.5 million followers on Twitter, “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.”

In another missive, Rowling hit the crazy as bat guano idea among the left that biological men/”trans” women can menstruate, “‘People who menstruate. I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?” she caustically asked. “The idea that women like me, who’ve been empathetic to trans people for decades, feeling kinship because they’re vulnerable in the same way as women – ie, to male violence – ‘hate’ trans people because they think sex is real and has lived consequences – is a nonsense,” she said.

In response the usual progressive suspects like the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) retweeted a statement from last December that said, “Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Non-binary people are non-binary. CC: JK Rowling.” Fellow traveler GLAAD accused Rowling of “align[ing] herself with an ideology which willfully distorts facts about gender identity and people who are trans.”

This wasn’t the first time Rowling got into hot water with the left on gender. She previously spoke out in defense of Maya Forstater, a woman who was sacked from her think tank post after saying that she was astonished to see “smart people” she knew “tying themselves in knots to avoid saying the truth that men cannot change into women.”

On that Rowling said, “Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?  #IStandWithMaya #ThisIsNotADrill.”
