Ellen DeGeneres’ California Mansion Is Burglarized

Over the past few weeks, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has been hit with crushing blow after crushing blow.

Her alleged rude behavior behind the scenes has been called out by multiple sources [1], and her dog even passed away [2].

Just when it seemed like things could not get any worse for DeGeneres, it’s been reported that her mansion in Montecito, California has been burglarized.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office revealed in a press release [3] yesterday that DeGeneres’ home that she shares with her actress wife Portia de Rossi was robbed on July 4.

“The residence appears to have been targeted due to the victim’s celebrity status,” the press release stated.

“The exact description of the items that were taken is not available for release, but they are described as high-value jewelry and watches.”

The police department added that an “extensive and ongoing” investigation is being conducted by “sheriff’s detectives and forensics technicians.”

They went on to say that “the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is in contact with other law enforcement agencies to determine” if the incident is “related to additional recent celebrity home burglaries.”

This comes days after a BuzzFeed News [4] report came out in which ten people who previously worked on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” as well as one current employee claimed that the behind the scenes atmosphere on the program is rampant with “racism, fear and intimidation.”

One ex-staffer claimed that she was told by a show writer that they “only know the names of the white people who work here.”

Another former employee alleged that they were told to take down a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for medical costs not covered by the show’s health insurance because it reflected poorly on “Ellen’s brand.”

Those who came forward urged DeGeneres to “take more responsibility” about what happens on the show’s set.

“If she wants to have her own show and have her name on the show title, she needs to be more involved to see what’s going on,” one former employee said.

“I think the executive producers surround her and tell her, ‘Things are going great, everybody’s happy,’ and she just believes that, but it’s her responsibility to go beyond that.”
