Trump Pardons General Mike Flynn

It's about time.

On Wednesday afternoon the president gave a full pardon to General Mike Flynn Conservatives are overjoyed.

The president was completely justified in his action, as Flynn had gone through years of persecution even after the Justice Department ruled the case should be dropped. This is a closing chapter in the entire Russian hoax scandal. The best part? It will drive the Left barking mad.

The Hill: “The move represents what is likely to be Trump’s closing broadside against the Russia investigation, which dogged his first two years in office and ensured six of his associates including his campaign chairman and former personal attorney. The move will bring an end to Flynn’s dramatic case, three years after he originally pleaded guilty to lying to federal investigators about his contacts with the top Russian diplomat in the United States and agreed to cooperate with Mueller’s investigation. Flynn pleaded guilty to one count of willingly and knowingly making false statements to the FBI as part of a cooperation deal announced in December 2017.”

ABC: “The pardon spares Flynn the possibility of any prison sentence, which Sullivan could potentially have imposed had he ultimately decided to reject the Justice Department’s dismissal request. That request was made in May after a review of the case by a federal prosecutor from St. Louis who had been specially appointed by Attorney General William Barr.”

Flynn withdrew his guilty plea in January 2020 after changing his attorneys. When the Department of Justice took the step of seeking to drop the charges against the former national security adviser, they said his statements were not “material” to the investigation. They actually did an about face on the case in May, saying they no longer had confidence in the investigation that led to Flynn’s interrogation in early 2017. This was after public exposure of the massive corruption behind the FBI investigation.

The president is pondering more than several other pardons before he leaves office. Reports came to light recently that he planned to pardon Flynn.

Adam Schiff was hilariously indignant, “There is no doubt that a president has broad power to confer pardons, but when they are deployed to insulate himself, his family, and his associates from criminal investigation, it is a corruption of the Framer’s intent. Donald Trump has repeatedly abused the pardon power to reward friends and protect those who covered up for him. This time he pardons Michael Flynn, who lied to hide his dealings with the Russians.”

Jerry Nadler blew a fuse, he said the pardon was “undeserved, unprincipled, and one more stain on President Trump’s rapidly diminishing legacy.” For those reactions alone the pardon was worth it. General Mike Flynn and his family will now rest easy and have a day tomorrow truly to be thankful for.
