The brother of the British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell spoke out this week to say that the late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein “ruined her life.” He also defended his sister, saying that she is not the “monstrous creature” that many see her as.
“I know she wishes that she had never met him. He has ruined her life,” Ian Maxwell, 64, told The Sunday Times of London of Epstein.
“The Ghislaine that we know has been buried in this caricature, this monstrous creature,” he added. “Ghislaine is very charming. She has a very good sense of humor.”
Ian went on to downplay his sister’s ties to Epstein, saying that while she dated him “sometime in the early 90s,” it was “effectively over by the turn of the century.”
Objective reporting for the educated American.
Though it’s been claimed that Ghislaine acted as a madam for Epstein, Ian portrayed her as nothing more than a lowly staffer for the billionaire.
“She did the house up or managed one or two of his properties,” he claimed. “She was married, she had stepchildren, she hadn’t seen Epstein for years.”
Ian only met Epstein once, describing him as “cold” and someone who “just didn’t exude the warmth of someone who wanted to spend a lot of time with me.”
Maxwell was arrested charges related to her allegedly grooming young girls for sex with Epstein, and sometimes participating in the abuse herself.
She was then remanded to prison after a judge deemed her to pose a significant flight risk given her vast amount of wealth and her International connections. At this time, Maxwell is set to remain behind bars until the start of her trial, which is scheduled for July of 2021.
Epstein committed suicide in August of 2019 while awaiting trial for various sex crime charges of his own.
At the end of 2020, Maxwell’s lawyers claimed that the 58 year-old British socialite is losing her hair and dropping weight like crazy because of the “onerous” conditions behind bars.
“While her weight may currently be fairly consistent, she had lost over 15 pounds, and she is sustaining hair loss,” Maxwell’s attorney Bobbi Sternheim wrote in the letter to US District Judge Alison Nathan, according to The New York Post.
