Meghan Markle Reportedly Planning To Run For President – Networking With Democrats

One week after Meghan Markle’s explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, new reports are coming in alleging that she is planning to run for president of the United States.

Sources told Daily Mail [1] that Meghan has been telling friends that she has political aspirations, and that she is hoping that her interview with Oprah will boost her chances of success in that department.

A senior UK politician who served under former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and has close ties to Washington claimed that Meghan has been openly networking among senior Democrats to help build fundraising teams and a campaign for the White House.

“The Blairite, internationalist and Democratic party networks are buzzing with talk about Meghan’s political ambitions and potential backers,” the anonymous source alleged.

Meghan, 39, is said to be considering running for president in 2024 if Joe Biden, who will be 82 by then, decides not to run for reelection. If she wins, she will be the first female president of the United States.

Omid Scobie, Meghan’s biographer and friend, has previously claimed that the former actress “has her eyes set on the US presidency.”

“Meghan is the embodiment of the American dream. One day we may see Meghan become president,”said Scobie, who wrote the book “Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family.”

Last year, another friend of Meghan’s told Vanity Fair [2] that she “would seriously consider running for president.”

“One of the reasons she was so keen not to give up her American citizenship was so she had the option to go into politics,” the unidentified friend said.

However, royal biographer Andrew Morton, author of “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess,” claimed last year that the wife of Prince Harry does not have the “skin of a rhino to run for office.”

“I would state categorically that she has no chance of ever running for president,” Morton said. “She would be eaten alive.”

While Meghan had to stay quiet about her political views as a royal, we previously reported [3] that prior to her marriage to Harry, she was open about her liberal political views. Before the 2016 election, she spoke out to blast then-Republican candidate Donald Trump in an interview.

“Yes, of course, Trump is divisive, think about female voters alone, right? I think it was in 2012 the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points; that is a huge number and with as misogynistic as Trump is, and so vocal about it, that is a huge chunk of it,” Meghan said at the time.

“You’re not just voting for a woman if it’s Hillary because she’s a woman, but certainly because Trump has made it easy to see that you don’t really want that kind of world that he’s painting,” she added.

It remains to be seen if Meghan will indeed run for office someday.
