Meghan Markle’s Father Comes Out Swinging After Bombshell Oprah Interview

Yesterday, we reported that Meghan Markle had addressed her estrangement from her father Thomas Markle in a previously unseen clip from her interview with Oprah Winfrey. Now, Thomas is firing back at her to defend the British royal family from claims his daughter made about alleged “racism.”

Meghan talked to Oprah about her father allegedly working with the press in the lead-up to her 2018 wedding to Harry.

“We called my dad, and I asked him, and he said, ‘No, absolutely not.’ I said, ‘You know, the Institution has never intervened for anything for us, but they can try to go in and kill this. But if they do this once, we’re not going to be able to use that same leverage to protect our kids one day,'” Meghan recalled. “I said, ‘We won’t be able to protect our own kids one day,’ and I said, ‘I just need you to tell me. If you tell me the truth, we can help.’ And he wasn’t able to do that. And that for me has really resonated, especially now as a mother.”

While appearing on “Good Morning Britain,” Thomas claimed that he’s apologized “at least 100 times or so” for this incident, but he has “never heard back from Meghan or Harry in any way shape or form.”

As for continuing to sell stories to the press about Meghan and Harry, Thomas said, “When they say I’m taking advantage of the press, basically what I do is, I do a story for the press. If I don’t hear from them in 30 days, then I do another story for the press… When they decide to start talking to me, I’ll stop talking to the press.”

In a clear shot at Harry, Thomas said at one point, “We all make mistakes. But I’ve never played naked pool. I’ve never dressed up like Hitler.”

Yahoo News reported that Thomas was referring to the fact that Harry wore a Nazi uniform to a costume party in 2005, and was photographed playing pool naked during a 2012 trip to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Thomas also talked about claims made by Meghan that a senior royal raised concerns about the skin color of her then-unborn son Archie. Thomas said that the “whole thing about color and the baby’s skin color is bull****.”

“I have great respect for the royals, and I don’t think the British royal family are racist at all,” Thomas added. “I don’t think the British are racist, I think Los Angeles is racist, California is a racist, but I don’t think the Brits are.”

“The thing about what color will the baby be or how dark will the baby be — I’m guessing and hoping it’s just a dumb question from somebody … It could be somebody asked a stupid question,” he continued. “Rather than being a total racist.”
