Michelle Obama Breaks Her Silence About Meghan Markle Interview – ‘I Just Pray That There Is Forgiveness’

One week after Meghan Markle’s explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, former First Lady Michelle Obama has broken her silence to give her thoughts on it.

During an interview with Access Hollywood, Michelle was asked to give her thoughts on the interview.

“My hope is that, when I think about what they’re going through, I think about the importance of family and I just pray that there is forgiveness and there is clarity and love and resolve at some point in time,” said Michelle, 57. “Because there’s nothing more important than family.”

This comes after White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki also gave her thoughts on the interview, which Meghan’s husband Prince Harry also took part in.

“Obviously many of us caught the interview, as many Americans did and many people around the world,” Psaki said, according to People Magazine. “For anyone to come forward and speak about their own struggles with mental health and tell their own personal story, that takes courage.”

During their interview, Meghan claimed that she was hit with racism from within the royal family, claiming that an unnamed senior royal questioned how dark her then-unborn son Archie’s skin would be. Harry refused to name this family member, only saying that it was neither Queen Elizabeth nor Prince Philip. Meghan also claimed that she felt so isolated as a royal that she considered committing suicide at one point during her pregnancy.

The royal family responded two days later in a brief statement released by Buckingham Palace.

“The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan,” the royal family said in a statement obtained by Fox News. “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight that Harry’s brother Prince “William is devastated by this interview. Don’t forget that the Duchess of Cambridge is being dragged into this whole saga and William will hate that and of course, relationship between father and son is of course at an all-time low.”

“I think that the idea that Kate’s being dragged into this will be upsetting for Kate who behind the scenes has tried really hard to be a peacemaker between William and Harry,” the expert continued. “She has been deeply saddened by the brothers’ falling out. Don’t forget she was incredibly close to Harry herself.”
