Casey Anthony was involved in a bar fight in Florida over the weekend, and she claims that a woman poured a drink over her head in a spat over a man.
The New York Post [1] reported that Anthony called West Palm Beach police to O’Shea’s Irish Pub after an argument that she and another woman were having over a man they each previously dated escalated.
Anthony claimed that the woman, who has since been identified as Thelma Moya, poured a drink on her leg during the fight. She also told officers that she and Moya have been in a longstanding battle over their mutual ex-boyfriend. One of the cops told Anthony how to file a restraining order, but she declined to do so, instead saying that she just wanted this incident to be documented.
Anthony’s manager told TMZ [2] that she will not be pressing charges against Moya. When asked for background on the relationship between the two women, the manager simply replied “There is none.” The manager also claimed that it was Moya who started the confrontation, not Anthony.
Anthony is seen as a controversial figure, as she was acquitted ten years ago in the murder of her 2 year-old daughter Caylee. Despite this, many feel that Anthony did indeed kill her daughter, and that she got away with murder.
Anthony was convicted in 2011 of four misdemeanor counts of lying to police during their investigation into the murder, but she was acquitted of all serious charges. She was sentenced to four years in jail, but ended up serving only a few weeks due to credit for time served. She was released in July of 2011, and was spotted drinking a Corona just hours later as she got on a private jet.
Last week, an unnamed male juror expressed regret at not convicting Anthony of her daughter’s murder, saying that it still “haunts” him to this day.
“I think now if I were to do it over again, I’d push harder to convict her of one of the lesser charges, like aggravated manslaughter,” he said. “At least that. Or child abuse … I didn’t know what the hell I was doing, and I didn’t stand up for what I believed in at the time.”
