Fox News host Juan Williams has just announced that he is leaving the daily show “The Five” after seven years on the program.
“It’s time for One More Thing, and I have an announcement,” Williams said in the final segment of Wednesday’s episode, according to The Hill. “This is my last day hosting The Five. COVID taught me a lot of lessons. As the show goes back to the New York studio I’ll be staying in D.C. I’ll be working for Fox out of Washington, my work as a Fox News political analyst will continue.”
“You know, it’s been going on seven years since I’ve been a daily host of this show. The show’s popularity has grown every single year,” he concluded. “So thank you, thank you so much, to you, the viewers, thank you!”
Williams was often the lone liberal voice on “The Five,” which has had a revolving panel of hosts since it premiered in 2011. At the time the show premiered, Williams was joined by veteran Democratic strategist Bob Beckel, who has since left “The Five.”

Fox said in a statement that a revolving series of liberal hosts would be taking Williams’ place until a permanent host is found. Fox also said that it was Williams who requested to be moved off “The Five,” and the network agreed to it.
“As Juan Williams announced on air today, he will be leaving The Five to live in Washington, DC full time. We are incredibly grateful for his commitment to the show and its success over the last several years,” Megan Albano, vice president of weekend primetime and “The Five,” told Deadline. “As we started planning ‘The Five’s’ return to its New York City studio at our headquarters a few months ago, Juan decided to stay in Washington, D.C. permanently.”
“We accommodated his request, understanding and appreciating his desire to remain closer to his family, recognizing that a remote co-hosting role on a roundtable in-studio program was not a long-term option,” she added. “While we will miss his insightful contributions each night and look forward to welcoming him on set whenever he’s in New York, we are pleased to have him continue his longtime role as a senior political analyst with Fox News Media.”
