The vehicle’s sole occupant, only identified as a 31-year-old male, initially stopped his vehicle but fled shortly after stopping.  The suspect fled police for approximately 2 miles before crashing the vehicle near South 27th Street and West Becher Street.

Police say the suspect exited the vehicle and started shooting at officers.  A 36-year-old unidentified Greenfield Police officer was shot multiple times. Two other police officers on the scene returned fire, killing the suspect.

Footage from FOX 6 shows the suspect vehicle had collided with at least one other vehicle on the scene.  The station also obtained dispatch audio that states the officer was shot in the chest.

Police say the officer who was shot had been with the department for 3 years. We wish the officer a speedy recovery.
