Minneapolis Seeking To Bring Police Back As Crime Surges

Just like the Democrats, and thanks to their leadership, Minneapolis is currently in the middle of one of the worst waves of crime the city has seen in generations. And why is that exactly? It all has to deal with the great idea formulated by Black Lives Matter and promoted by the Democrats – “Defund the Police”. That narrative took action in Minneapolis and has caused more than 530 shootings this year alone. That is an increase of 114% when compared to the numbers in 2019. Not to mention, arson, robbery, and aggravated assaults are also on the rise. With residents seeing the results first hand, many are pushing for more law enforcement as the Chief of Police recently requested a $27 million increase in next year’s budget.

With the Chief of Police deciding to ask the City Council for the increase of budget, the city now has to make a decision. Will they side with the BLM movement and continue to see their city destroyed by crime, or will they retake their city and enforce law and order?

According to Chief Medaria Arradondo, “The Minneapolis Police Department has lost nearly 300 officers since last year as violent crime surges in the city, depleting resources to respond adequately.”

While the city would normally have months to decide, there are only two weeks left before the vote. And the city is also facing a mass shooting that happened in their sister city of St. Paul just a couple of weeks ago. On top of that, Minneapolis was already forced to get rid of both its gang unit and illegal gun unit due to budget cuts.

Although the city has been drowning in crime, Black Lives Matter continues to push for the police to be eliminated altogether. Instead of the police department, the city would have the first-ever “public safety department”.
