Wisconsin Gov Puts 500 National Guard Troops On Standby For Kyle Verdict

With an acquittal or a mistrial likely, they're probably gonna need all the help they can get.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers (D) announced on Friday that he has placed 500 National Guard troops on standby for the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict, which is expected to come next week.

Evers announced that the guardsmen will be stationed outside of Kenosha to help police if there is any unrest over the weekend or next week. Closing arguments in the trial are expected to begin on Monday.

“We continue to be in close contact with our partners at the local level to ensure the state provides support and resources to help keep the Kenosha community and greater area safe,” Evers said, according to Daily Mail.

“The Kenosha community has been strong, resilient, and has come together through incredibly difficult times these past two years, and that healing is still ongoing,” he added. “I urge folks who are otherwise not from the area to please respect the community by reconsidering any plans to travel there and encourage those who might choose to assemble and exercise their First Amendment rights to do so safely and peacefully.”

An acquittal or a mistrial in this case is looking more likely by the day, which is why police all over the country are preparing for unrest and violence from “woke” liberal protesters who will undoubtedly take anything other than a guilty verdict as an excuse to go about looting and wreaking havoc in other ways.

Lawyers representing Rittenhouse have asked the judge to declare a mistrial because prosecutors introduced banned evidence, a move that some legal experts think was a deliberate attempt to throw the trial as their chances of convicting grew narrower.

While police around the country are preparing for the worst, Sergeant Betsy Brantner Smith, spokesman for the National Police Association, said that they don’t want to disclose exactly what they are doing for fear of alerting protesters who can then circumvent them.

“I’d guess that perhaps they’re just trying to be prepared without too much being known to potential protesters. A lot of jurisdictions will be doing that,” she said. “One of the things, when we go back to George Floyd riots and others, some departments were caught unaware of how bad the situation was going to be. ”

“Law enforcement has learned from recent history…they’re going to try to be prepared,” Smith added, going on to say that things could turn “ugly” in Wisconsin cities like Kenosha, Milwaukee, and Madison.

“I’m sure Kenosha are preparing for riots. That was one of the things – when Jacob Blake shooting happened that led to the Kenosha riots, it was because the city leadership in Kenosha did not get a handle on it,” Smith said. “They’re going to have to make preparations for the safety of the jurors, everyone involved in the trial. Madison, there may be some issues there, Milwaukee – a large, large city. I’m sure there’s preparations being made there.”

Smith also said that staffing shortages in police departments compounded by COVID-19 vaccine mandates could be a major issue here.

“With cities like Portland and Chicago- there are staffing shortages already and then let’s add the vax mandates, and the shortages caused from that,” she said. “Now you’ve got what could be violent nights ahead, vax mandates where police officers are being sent home by the hundreds and thousands, we could have some trouble brewing.”
