Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich spoke out today to slam President Joe Biden for his “disastrous” policies, predicting that Democrats will lose out in the midterm elections later this year.
“I think the policies he adopted are disastrous in the real world,” Gingrich said of Biden while appearing on Fox News [1]. “He is anti-American energy. The price of gasoline and heating oil go up. He has launched a program of inflation. People feel it in their pocketbooks every time they go to the store. He has totally failed to meet the logistic supply chain crisis. There are still 90 ships offshore waiting to be offloaded in southern California. You go through item after item and Biden’s problem is the real world.”
“There are still 100,000-plus people coming across the border illegally every month. None of them with Covid checks, none of them with criminal record checks. So, we’re seeing a compounding of reality in ways that I think make it hard for them. Meanwhile, they simply took off too big a bite. Their idea of Build Back Better was actually build back a lot bigger, and that’s not what the country wants. And so I think we’re going to see a replay of 2021 with a disastrous result in November for the Democrats.”
This is far from the first time that Gingrich has publicly criticized Biden. Last month, Gingrich expressed his belief that Biden and other top Democrats already know that they are about to lose later this year.
“If you’re Biden, Pelosi, and Schumer you’re already discounting next year and assuming you’re gonna get wiped out, so you’re trying to drive through everything to pay off your allies before the catastrophe hits,” he said [2]. “And I think it’s a little bit like people trying to build a house on a beach while a tsunami’s coming, and they’re trying desperately to finish the house and this wave gets bigger every week. I’m amazed by it.”
“Ted Cruz captured it perfectly when he said that Biden combines the incompetence of Jimmy Carter with the radicalism of George McGovern,” Gingrich told Fox News [3]. “That’s a very dangerous pattern, and it’s one which is not getting better. When you see the president of the United States fall asleep in public at a global warming conference, as he warns us how big a deal global warming is. First of all, you cringe for America. Whether you’re Democrat or Republican, having an American president look so weak and so out of it.”
It will certainly be interesting to see how the midterm elections play out later this year.
