The former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich has broken his silence about the FBI raiding former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate on Monday, and like millions of other Americans, he’s deeply disturbed by what happened.
“I am happy to have a debate with people like Max Boot who are the apologists for a failed anti-American establishment which has year after year failed the American people, failed to defend our interests, failed to win wars, failed to reform the bureaucracies, failed to educate our children, people like Max Boot are in fact the representatives of a dying system, and as it starts to die, it grows more desperate,” Gingrich told Fox News [1] host Laura Ingraham on Wednesday night.
Gingrich went on to say what he believes is the truth behind Democrat leadership pushing for this raid.
“And what you saw last night at Mar-a-Lago was the desperation of a national machine that knows it’s on the edge of being defeated and then being eliminated,” he added. “And I think you’ll see more desperation in the weeks to come.”
This came days after Ingraham herself revealed on her show [2] who she thinks the real target of the raid was. She said that the search warrant “had Donald Trump’s name on it. But the real target of this investigation isn’t Trump. The real target of this investigation is you or anyone who dares to call out and take on the rank corruption of the D.C. establishment. This is the deep state’s revenge.”
“They’re trying to show all of us that we’ll be destroyed if we fight them,” she continued. “If we question the repeated failures of the Pentagon leadership. If we make serious – I’m talking about serious moves to disrupt the status quo here in Washington. You know, the status quo that protects the powerful as long as they play the game. Now for decades. They got away with selling us out by letting in 20 million illegals flooding across our border. They sold us out by sending our manufacturing jobs to China.”
Not stopping there, Ingraham proceeded to double down.
They sold us out by wasting trillions on stupid wars in the Middle East,” she stated. “And now they’re selling us out by wasted billions, billions more in Ukraine. A year after 13 of our service members were murdered in Afghanistan due to our own general’s incompetence. And think about this tonight. Still, no one has been fired.”
“You think Trump would have ever put up with any put up with any of this?” Ingraham concluded. “And if he got back into power, they know he would hold all the right people accountable for what they’ve done.”
CBN News [3] reported that Trump himself fired back by calling the raid a “horrible thing” and “a coordinated attack” by Democrats. Republican lawmakers have also rallied around him in the wake of the raid.
“Doing this 90 days before an election reeks of politics,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).
“It has to be of incredible magnitude for at least my side of the aisle to say that was warranted. Without that I think we’re going to find ourselves in a very big mess as it relates to the credibility of the FBI,” added the other South Carolina Senator Tim Scott (R).
Meanwhile, legal experts have called on the Department of Justice to be transparent about why this happened.
“The Justice Department needs to be very transparent about this,” said Hans Von Spakovsky of The Heritage Foundation. “They need to release the search warrant, the supporting affidavit, so we can understand why they would engage in a raid like this.”
At the time of this writing, however, the search warrant still has yet to be released.
