Ghislaine Maxwell Gets Bad News As She’s Fired By Her Own Lawyers For Failing To Pay Them

Maxwell now has sixty days to find new lawyers

Ghislaine Maxwell, the alleged former madam of the late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, has been fired by her own lawyers for failing to pay them.

Daily Mail obtained court documents that were filed in the US Virgin Islands in which Maxwell’s attorneys that were representing her in her attempt to squeeze money out of Epstein’s account, have withdrawn their counsel. The law firm Quintairos, Prieto, Wood, & Boyer alleged in these documents that Maxwell, 60, had failed to pay them “despite repeated requests.”

This comes as Maxwell’s criminal defense team is suing her for failing to pay legal fees that have added up to more than $850,000. After being convicted on sex trafficking charges for her alleged role in Epstein’s crimes, Maxwell is serving out a 20-year sentence in a low security prison in Tallahassee, Florida.

In March of 2020, seven months after Epstein’s alleged suicide and four months before her own arrest, Maxwell filed a lawsuit against the late billionaire pedophile’s estate in the Virgin Islands. In the suit, she claimed that Epstein had promised “indemnification for and advancement of attorneys’ fees, security costs, costs to find safe accommodation and all other expenses [she] has reasonably incurred and will incur by reason of her prior employment relationship with Jeffrey E. Epstein.”

Maxwell was envisioning costs that were “in connection with any threatened, pending or completed suit [in] relation to Epstein…and his alleged victims.” The disgraced British socialite claimed that during her time dating Epstein, he “promised that he would support her financially,” alleging that he “made these promises…repeatedly, both in writing and conversation.”

Epstein maintained a home on the Caribbean territories’ Little St. James Island, which has infamously become known as “pedophile island” because of the crimes that allegedly took place there.

Back in 2008, he was convicted of procuring a child for prostitution and soliciting a prostitute in Palm Beach, Florida, where he also had a house. Maxwell claimed in her lawsuit that after this conviction, she “incurred legal fees and expenses in connection with various suits,” including civil cases brought by Epstein’s alleged victims.

“Consistent with his repeated promises,” reads the suit. “Epstein indemnified Maxwell and advanced legal fees and settlement costs’ incurred in relation to a civil suit brought by victim Sarah Ransome in 2017 and a 2009 suit brought by Virginia Roberts (now Giuffre).”

However, when Maxwell submitted a claim to Epstein’s estate on November 22, 2019, it did not “honor or even formally respond.” By then, Maxwell was under criminal investigation herself, and she filed her lawsuit that coming March. She was arrested in July, and has been in federal custody ever since, as she was denied bail pending her trial.

Maxwell now has sixty days to find new lawyers, but since she is also being sued by her criminal defense team, it is unlikely that she will have the funds to pay any new attorneys.

Born into wealth, Maxwell was a socialite who rubbed shoulders with the likes of Prince Andrew before her downfall. Many are still hoping that she will one day expose the names of some of the other powerful figures who may have been involved in Epstein’s crimes. It remains to be seen if she will ever do that.
