Spears, 44, was taken into custody in Ventura County and booked into the Ventura County jail following a traffic stop. Authorities pulled the singer over after receiving reports that her vehicle was driving erratically.

“Black BMW sedan in and out of lanes… speeding,” the dispatch audio revealed.
Law enforcement officers later stopped Spears in Westlake Village, a community located not far from her home in Southern California. Reports indicate she was alone in the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Following the arrest, California Highway Patrol officers transported Spears to a nearby hospital early Thursday morning in order to conduct blood testing related to the investigation.
TMZ reported that the hospital visit was not related to injuries but was carried out so authorities could determine Spears’ blood alcohol content.
Sources told TMZ that Spears spent some time at the hospital while the blood sample was taken.
While officials have not publicly released the results of the blood alcohol test, sources cited in the report said Spears has told people her blood alcohol level was .06.
In California, the legal limit for blood alcohol concentration while driving is .08 percent. However, individuals can still face DUI charges if officers observe erratic driving behavior.
Spears’ manager, Cade Hudson, confirmed the arrest and addressed the situation in a statement to TMZ.
“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully, this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” Hudson said.
