Neighbor Reports Suspicious Man Near the Home of Missing 84-Year-Old Nancy Guthrie [WATCH]

Authorities continue searching for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, who was reported missing on Feb. 1 after investigators believe she was abducted from her home during the late night or early morning hours.

Weeks before her disappearance, a neighbor reported seeing a man behaving suspiciously in the area near Guthrie’s residence, as reported [1] by News Nation.

The neighbor, who lives around the corner from Guthrie, told NewsNation she recognized the elderly woman and had occasionally gone on walks with her in the neighborhood.

She said the incident involving the unknown man occurred around Jan. 11, a date that investigators are now focusing on as part of the ongoing investigation.

Federal authorities have asked nearby residents to review any available security footage from that date.

The FBI is seeking Ring camera footage from homes in the area in hopes of identifying individuals who may have been near Guthrie’s property in the weeks leading up to her disappearance [4].

According to the neighbor’s account, the man stood out because of how he was behaving while walking through the area.

“I’m getting ready in the morning, and I saw him out there, so I couldn’t make out his face. He was in kind of street clothes, not shoes that you’d walk in, and he had a baseball hat really low, and he was kind of hunched over, and he was kind of looking around, and he just didn’t fit,” the neighbor told NewsNation.

The woman said the man appeared to move slowly and seemed to study the surrounding streets rather than simply passing through.

“He wasn’t going terribly quickly like a normal person who’s getting exercise. He was kind of going slowly, and when he walked by this street, he really took a long look at it.”

Investigators have not publicly confirmed whether the individual seen by the neighbor is connected to Guthrie’s disappearance.

However, the date the neighbor provided — Jan. 11 — has become a point of interest for federal authorities reviewing potential video footage from homes in the neighborhood.

Guthrie’s disappearance has drawn attention due to the unusual circumstances surrounding the case. Authorities believe she was abducted from her residence sometime overnight, though specific details about how the abduction may have occurred have not been publicly released.

Multiple ransom notes connected to the case have been reported, but despite those communications, Guthrie has not been located, and investigators have not announced any arrests.

Law enforcement agencies continue working with federal investigators to gather information that could help determine what happened to the missing woman.

The neighbor who spoke to NewsNation said she had known Guthrie and occasionally spent time walking with her in the area, describing the missing woman as someone familiar to people in the neighborhood.

The sighting of the unknown man has added another piece to the timeline investigators are trying to establish as they review potential evidence from nearby homes and security systems.

Authorities have urged anyone with video recordings from Jan. 11 or any information about suspicious activity in the neighborhood around that time to come forward.

As the investigation continues, officials remain focused on locating Guthrie and determining whether the suspicious individual reported by the neighbor may be connected to the case.
