Mother of 3 Killed After Trying to Help Woman Who was Jumped in Bar Parking Lot

A Pennsylvania mother of three was killed late Saturday night after attempting to assist a woman during an altercation outside a bar, according to authorities and family members, as reported [1] by the New York Post.

Jessica Hilliard, 34, was fatally shot in the parking lot outside Niki’s Quick Six in Parks Township. The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. after a woman entered the bar and told others she had just been jumped in the parking lot.

According to Hilliard’s family and police, she and others went outside to intervene following the report. Hilliard’s sister, Hailey Frawley, described what happened in an interview with Action News 4.

“A man was possibly putting his hands on a female and her and another friend, you know, tried to step in and stop it,” Frawley said. “And that individual who was, you know, going after the female is the person who ended up shooting” Hilliard and three others.

Authorities identified the suspect as David Dunmire, 36. He has been charged with 16 counts, including four counts of criminal homicide.

Police said surveillance footage showed Dunmire allegedly pulling out a firearm and firing multiple times toward a group of people in the parking lot while attempting to leave the scene. Hilliard was struck and later died from her injuries.

Three additional people were also shot during the incident, including a 24-year-old woman, a 25-year-old man, and a 34-year-old man, according to investigators.

Hilliard’s family described her as someone who regularly stepped in to help others.

“Our sister died a hero, and she is the kind of person who would always jump in to help anybody, regardless of if she knew them or not,” said her sister, Amanda Evacheck. “And she’s been like that her whole life.”

Authorities said Dunmire was taken into custody at the scene following the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to review evidence and witness statements.

The incident began when the woman involved in the initial altercation ran into the bar seeking help. According to police, that prompted several individuals, including Hilliard, to go outside to address the situation. The confrontation escalated shortly afterward.

Officials have not released additional details regarding the condition of the other individuals who were injured.

The shooting has drawn attention from the local community, with family members emphasizing Hilliard’s actions in attempting to assist someone in distress prior to the incident.

Law enforcement has not announced a timeline for court proceedings beyond confirming the charges filed against the suspect.
