New York City police have opened an investigation after a viral video appeared to show seven men climbing out of a sewer manhole in Brooklyn during the early morning hours.
The video was shared by The Flatbush Scoop and quickly spread online after showing the group emerging from a manhole on McDonald Avenue between Kings Highway and Avenue S, near Kosher Corner Supermarket, as reported [1] by The Gateway Pundit.
“A bizarre and developing situation is unfolding on McDonald Avenue between Kings Highway and Avenue S, near Kosher Corner Supermarket,” The Flatbush Scoop wrote in the post, which drew more than a million views.
“Video shows approximately six individuals emerging from a manhole at around 2:00 a.m. after reportedly spending nearly two hours underground — with the cover closed and a person standing watch nearby,” the post added.

The video appeared to show seven people coming out of the manhole, rather than six. It began with a man in a white shirt standing near three vehicles close to the manhole. The man then walked toward the manhole and appeared to signal toward it.
Moments later, the manhole cover was moved, and the group began climbing out one by one. The first person to emerge appeared to physically move the cover near the cars before the others followed.
Several of the men then appeared to begin removing clothing shortly after leaving the sewer, before the video ended.
The unusual scene prompted a wave of online reaction after the footage spread across social media. Some users joked about the sight of people emerging from a New York City sewer, including references to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the fictional characters known for living in the city’s sewers.
Those boys are doing some Oceans 11 type things down there.

Authorities, however, are treating the matter seriously.
According to the New York Post, the New York Police Department launched an investigation into the viral video. The report said police sent an officer down into the sewer as part of the investigation, though no clear findings were reported from that search.
No arrests have been made.
The incident remains under review after the video drew public attention to the late-night activity beneath the Brooklyn street. The footage showed the group leaving the sewer around 2:00 a.m., after the post said they had reportedly spent nearly two hours underground with the manhole cover closed.
The investigation has not produced public information explaining why the men were inside the sewer, what they were doing underground, or whether any crime had occurred.
The video was filmed in the area of McDonald Avenue between Kings Highway and Avenue S, near Kosher Corner Supermarket, according to The Flatbush Scoop.
