Chris Pratt Raves Over ‘Young Washington,’ Calling Newcomer “Massive Star” [WATCH]

Chris Pratt has delivered [1] a glowing endorsement for Angel Studios’ newest historical epic, “Young Washington,” praising both the film’s craftsmanship and its breakout star.

The actor, known for his blockbuster roles in “The Avengers” and “Jurassic World,” took to Instagram after attending a screening of the film, which premiered Friday in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.

In his post, Pratt urged followers to see the film immediately, writing, “Okay. Get off your ass and run to the movie theater and go see Young Washington. I just got out of the screening of this movie.” His enthusiastic message captured how deeply the project had impressed him.

The actor went on to spotlight the movie’s lead, William Franklyn-Miller, who plays the young George Washington.

Pratt admitted he initially didn’t know Miller’s name but told fans to remember it, predicting a major career ahead.

“The acting is incredible. Whoever plays Young Washington, I don’t know his name, but I’m gonna tell you this right now: mark my words, very soon everybody in the world will know his name. He’s a massive star,” he said.

Pratt also drew cinematic comparisons that raised expectations even higher.

He likened the film to Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “The Revenant,” as well as “Pride and Prejudice” and “Braveheart,” claiming it combined the qualities of all three.

“It’s so good. It’s so good. It’s like ‘The Revenant,’ it’s like ‘Pride and Prejudice,’ it’s like ‘Braveheart.’ All combined. Acting is incredible,” he said in the post.

In his caption, Pratt continued to heap praise on the team behind the movie.

“I was actually blown away. The movie is incredible. Like Braveheart for Americans. Jon Erwin crushed it. William Franklin Miller did a great job as young Washington. Remember the name! A star is born! The movie is awesome! Way to go!!” he wrote.

Directed by Jon Erwin, “Young Washington” tells the story of George Washington’s formative years, focusing on his military experiences during the French and Indian War.

The narrative follows him as he navigates the Ohio Country in the 1750s, building alliances, confronting French forces, and shaping his leadership under pressure.

According to the official synopsis, the film shows Washington caught in the chaos of global conflict as a young soldier testing his honor, loyalty, and courage.

It promises a personal journey as much as a historical adventure, exploring how the young officer evolves into the leader destined to guide a new nation.

The production assembled a robust supporting cast that includes Mary-Louise Parker, Ben Kingsley, Andy Serkis, Kelsey Grammer, and Joel Smallbone.

Each contributes to Angel Studios’ most ambitious cinematic project yet, one that features sweeping battle scenes and meticulously designed period sets.

Before reaching theaters nationwide, “Young Washington” premiered at the Tribeca Festival in June 2026, offering early viewers a glimpse of the studio’s largest-scale production.

Its July 3 release strategically aligned with the nation’s 250th anniversary festivities, tying Washington’s legacy to the milestone celebration.

Pratt’s enthusiastic endorsement adds star power to the project’s early success.

Many of his followers responded favorably online, echoing his excitement and curiosity about the rising actor he singled out as a future name to remember.

Financially, the film debuted strongly, earning about $7.6 million domestically on its first Friday across roughly 2,700 locations, including preview showings.

The performance marked a positive start for the studio’s nationwide rollout.

Angel Studios, known for producing family-oriented and faith-based entertainment, invested heavily in “Young Washington,” making it the most expensive production in its history.

The scale, cast, and action sequences have set it apart from the studio’s earlier offerings.

As for Pratt, his public enthusiasm adds another layer to the film’s growing buzz.

His words “A star is born” have already become part of the conversation surrounding Franklyn-Miller, suggesting his performance may be the film’s most talked-about achievement.

The actor’s praise fits neatly within the patriotically timed release, fusing admiration for the film’s artistry with celebration of American heritage.

For both Angel Studios and its young leading man, the endorsement marks a standout moment in the launch of “Young Washington.”
