James Blunt Denies He Is the ‘Very Famous Undressed Man’ in Hayden Panettiere’s Yacht Story [WATCH]

James Blunt is pushing back against rumors that he was the unnamed famous man in a disturbing yacht encounter described by Hayden Panettiere.

The singer, 52, shared an article by journalist Dean Piper on X Monday in an effort to stop the speculation.

Panettiere wrote about the encounter in her memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning.” She said she was 18 years old when she found herself in bed with an undressed and very famous man aboard a yacht.

The memoir did not identify the man, but its description of him as a famous British singer and songwriter in his thirties fueled online theories, as reported [3] by Page Six.

Blunt became part of the speculation because he had previously been photographed with Panettiere on a boat.

Piper addressed those rumors by revisiting his own reporting about Panettiere and Blunt. He wrote an article about the pair when they attended the amfAR charity event in Cannes in 2009.

“They’d arrived together, had been flirty throughout and had gone to the afterparty together,” Piper recalled. “They were photographed on a boat the next day, smiling and having fun.”

Years later, those images were used to connect the “You’re Beautiful” singer to the unnamed man in Panettiere’s account.

However, Piper argued that the timing of the photographs does not match the age Panettiere gave for the yacht incident.

“Guys, it only takes the smallest of AI searches to find out that in May 2009, when the pictures of Blunt and Panettiere were taken, she was 19, almost 20. So, if the incident happened when she was 18, Blunt’s not your guy to start with.”

Piper also focused on how Panettiere described her actions after she was placed in the room. According to her account, she fled and hid somewhere else on the boat because she felt threatened by the situation.

In Piper’s view, that description did not line up with Panettiere and Blunt being seen together more than once.

He reasoned that the cabin encounter appeared to have been the first and final time Panettiere met the unnamed man.

The photographs, by contrast, showed Panettiere and Blunt at the amfAR event and together again on the boat the following day.

Piper presented those repeated appearances, along with the conflicting timeline, as evidence that Blunt was not the person described.

Panettiere discussed the yacht incident in greater detail in May during an appearance on the “On Purpose with Jay Shetty” podcast.

She recalled expecting a fun night on a boat with friends before she was taken “by surprise” and felt “in danger.”

The “Heroes” star said she was “led by somebody that I had grown to trust and see as a protector and somebody who had my back” down the stairs.

That person brought her into what Panettiere described as a “very small” room.

“She physically put me in the bed next to this undressed man who was very famous,” Panettiere remembered. Her account emphasized that she did not feel she had an easy way to escape the situation aboard the yacht.

“There was no jumping off and swimming away,” she added. “And there was nobody who was going to be empathetic to my situation. I realized that this was nothing new to them.”

Former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member Diana Jenkins later denied separate rumors that she was the woman Panettiere claimed had put her into the bed.

Those theories surfaced after fans pointed to the formerly close friendship between Jenkins and Panettiere.

“Diana has had to deal with false online rumors before, and sadly this is just another example of that,” Jenkins’ spokesperson told TMZ.

“So let me be 100 percent clear about this: It most certainly is not Diana, and anyone who claims it is her will be sued.”

Panettiere died last Sunday of an apparent overdose. She was 36 years old.
