What is it about prominent Democrats and public appearances that so often leave audiences wondering [1] whether somebody raided the liquor cabinet backstage? The latest performance raising eyebrows came from Ohio governor candidate Amy Acton during a rally Thursday night.
Democrat politicians regularly accuse patriotic Americans of posing a “threat to democracy,” label opponents “fascist,” and lecture the country about morality. Yet their own public behavior can sound so strange that questions about sobriety practically write themselves.
Nobody needs proof of a stocked bar to notice when a politician sounds completely out of sorts. Whether the cause is alcohol, power, nerves, or something else, voters can hear the words and judge the performance for themselves.
Kamala Harris became notorious among critics for campaign appearances that sounded less like coherent speeches and more like verbal obstacle courses. Her wandering word salads, shifting accent, slurred delivery, and unpredictable volume repeatedly fueled speculation that she was not entirely steady.
A Thomas Sowell, Kamala Harris IS NOT!
Every time she talks, she sounds drunk.
Additionally … she IS NOT motivational!
She sounds FOOLISH every time she opens her mouth.
Who approves her speeches … that person needs to be FIRED! https://t.co/ZaAepFTvU2

Harris also had a habit of trying to sound inspirational while appearing visibly awkward and verbally scattered. When her volume suddenly climbed, the delivery could become as distracting as the message she was attempting to communicate.
The Democratic party just posted this video of Kamala addressing her supporters…
She looks and sounds drunk. Like very drunk

Kamala Harris praised Joe Biden in a recent event, and some are thinking she sounds DRUNK. ‼️
What do you think?

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has faced similar accusations for years, with critics claiming she indulged in liquid lunches while working on Capitol Hill. Pelosi and Harris have both denied drinking while on the job, but those denials have not ended the public ridicule.
People are speculating Nancy Pelosi was completely hammered before President Trump’s State of the Union.
They’re saying she looked drunk.
Just like Kamala. https://t.co/d3Pu3QkkLA

Fact-checkers have often responded by targeting fake videos, questionable reports, and claims about alleged $100,000 bar tabs. They then cite denials from Pelosi’s office as though knocking down dubious allegations automatically settles every question about her public appearances.
That tactic misses the criticism. Americans watching a politician struggle through remarks are not necessarily claiming to possess receipts from a bar, a backstage photograph, or sworn testimony from somebody holding a cocktail shaker.
The point is simpler and far more embarrassing for the politicians involved. They sometimes sound absolutely bombed in public, regardless of whether alcohol is actually responsible for the spectacle.
Acton stepped squarely into that territory Thursday night. The Ohio governor candidate took the stage and produced a muddled burst of enthusiasm that immediately invited comparisons to Harris at her most scattered.
“Ohhh, it’s so good. Good to be back here, it’s about truth and justice I just wrote on the words back here. That is. I’m honored to be here!” Acton exclaimed.
OMG. Amy Acton is HAMMERED…
She straight-up embarrassed herself, walking out and slurring like she’s drunk out of her mind!
“Ohhh it’s so GOOD. Good to be back here, it’s about truuuth and justice I just wrote on the worrrr, words back here. That is. I’m honored to be here!”
Ohio, do NOT make the wrong choice on Tuesday, Vivek is your only option to maintain sanity!
Keep Ohio red. Don’t hand the governorship over to this PSYCHO

That statement does not become clearer with a second reading. The abrupt fragments, tangled wording, and bizarre reference to words written “back here” made the moment sound less like a polished campaign message and more like somebody trying to locate the end of a sentence.
Acton’s remarks also revived the familiar problem Democrats have when their public performances collide with their carefully managed image. A party that constantly portrays its opponents as dangerous has trouble projecting competence when its own candidates cannot deliver a basic rally greeting cleanly.
The criticism is not that every strange sentence proves a politician consumed alcohol. The criticism is that Democrat figures repeatedly appear before voters sounding so disoriented that drunkenness becomes an obvious punchline.
Democrat women: 2019, 2024, and tonight.
Pelosi. Harris. Acton.
Same slurring, new state.
The Democrats’ official “one more for the road” tour. https://t.co/Pd40pzk7vZ

That distinction matters because debunking a fake clip does not erase an authentic public performance. Nor does dismissing one exaggerated accusation answer the broader question created by rambling words, slurred delivery, misplaced emphasis, or uncontrolled volume.
Acton may not appreciate being compared with Harris, but Thursday night supplied plenty of material for exactly that comparison. Her rally remarks were confused, choppy, and embarrassing enough to leave listeners wondering what they had just heard.
Whether Democrats are intoxicated by alcohol or merely drunk on their own power is ultimately beside the point. When candidates sound this scrambled while asking voters for authority, the resulting mockery is not difficult to understand.
