Epstein Island Visitor Reid Hoffman Bankrolls Democrats’ Epstein Attack Ads [WATCH]

Democratic megadonor Reid Hoffman, who visited Jeffrey Epstein’s Caribbean island and sent gifts to Epstein and his “girls,” has poured [1] millions of dollars into Democratic super PACs running ads that connect Republican candidates to the dead sex offender.

Hoffman, the cofounder of LinkedIn, gave $5 million to the Chuck Schumer-affiliated Senate Majority PAC on September 25, according to campaign finance records. He also contributed $8.5 million to House Majority PAC, which is aligned with House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York.

Those contributions make Hoffman one of the two groups’ largest donors during this election cycle. Meanwhile, both PACs have spent millions of dollars on advertisements attempting to tie Republican candidates to Epstein, who died in jail in August 2019 after being arrested for trafficking underage girls for sex.

One Senate Majority PAC advertisement targets Rep. Ashley Hinson, the Republican Senate candidate in Iowa. It alleges she received $90,000 in campaign contributions from people named in the Epstein files and voted against releasing the documents.

“The people in the Epstein files have a lot of money,” the advertisement states. Senate Majority PAC spots in Maine and Kansas similarly accuse Republican senators Susan Collins and Roger Marshall of voting against releasing the files.

The Maine advertisement says Collins voted that way to “protect child predators,” while the Kansas advertisement says Marshall acted to “protect pedophiles.” But the record cited by PolitiFact complicates the Democratic PAC’s attacks.

Republican senators, including Collins and Marshall, voted in November with the rest of the Senate to support the Epstein Files Transparency Act. In September, Republican senators had opposed an amendment backed by Schumer that tied the measure to a defense spending bill.

PolitiFact determined that Senate Majority PAC had “misleadingly” attempted to connect Collins with Epstein. Monica De La Cruz, the Republican opponent of Democratic congressional candidate Bobby Pulido, also voted for the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

House Majority PAC has spent $2.3 million on Epstein advertisements in competitive races across Arizona, Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Texas. That spending includes an advertisement supporting Pulido in Texas’s 15th Congressional District.

Pulido has faced scrutiny for helping a bandmate who was jailed for child molestation. Hoffman contributed another $3,500 directly to Pulido’s campaign on October 1, according to records.

Hoffman’s massive PAC contributions create an awkward backdrop for Democrats trying to make Epstein a Republican liability. Epstein himself contributed $22,000 during his lifetime to Schumer’s campaigns and affiliated committees.

After Epstein’s death, Hoffman apologized for helping him rehabilitate his public image following Epstein’s earlier conviction for soliciting sex from minors in Florida. Hoffman also hosted Epstein at events attended by other wealthy technology figures and offered in 2015 to “help” him handle media attention.

Hoffman visited Epstein at Little Saint James in the Virgin Islands, as well as at Epstein’s homes in New Mexico and New York City. Following visits in the Virgin Islands and New York, Hoffman messaged Epstein about a statue for Little Saint James and “ice cream” for “the girls.”

A representative for Hoffman has claimed that “the girls” referred to two women on Epstein’s payroll. Hoffman has denied involvement in Epstein’s illicit activities and previously claimed his “last interaction” with Epstein occurred in 2015.

The Washington Free Beacon found that Hoffman and Epstein remained in contact through at least 2018. They exchanged numerous emails, held Skype calls, and booked a sushi dinner in California.

Hoffman later acknowledged those interactions and said he was “mistaken.” Epstein also developed a close friendship with former Obama White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler after she left the administration in 2014.

Emails show Epstein gave Ruemmler gifts that included a $9,400 Hermès handbag and spa trips to the Four Seasons. Ruemmler, in return, advised Epstein about managing his legal and public relations problems.

The Senate Majority PAC, House Majority PAC, and Hoffman did not respond to requests for comment. Their silence leaves Democrats running Epstein-themed attacks while one of their biggest financial patrons carries his own documented history of visits, gifts, and continued contact with Epstein.
