Rep. Ilhan Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, says he has “no concerns” about the federal examination of the Minnesota Democrat’s immigration history, even after Homeland Security Investigations agents searched the couple’s Washington, D.C., residence on Monday.
As Fox News reported [1], the search was part of an ongoing criminal investigation into Omar’s immigration pathway to the United States, according to two sources familiar with the probe who spoke to Fox News Digital.
“My wife came here when she was 12 years old as a child war refugee,” Mynett told Fox News Digital outside the residence. “No concerns.”
Mynett’s comments came as Omar’s relatives were reportedly issued subpoenas. The New York Times reported Tuesday that at least two relatives were subpoenaed as part of the HSI investigation into her immigration paperwork, with one confirmed as Omar’s sister, Sahra Noor.
Fox News also learned that subpoenas had been sent to multiple members of Omar’s family. The subpoenas came one day after federal agents searched the Washington residence, as first reported by Fox News Digital.
The New York Post separately reported Tuesday that Omar’s staff helped get her birth year adjusted from 1981 to 1982 in the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library.
The report said the change was also made on other sites, including Wikipedia and at media outlets.
According to the Post report, the altered birthdate appeared during Omar’s entire tenure in the Minnesota House and for months after she entered Congress.
Omar claims she became a naturalized citizen by obtaining derivative citizenship through her father, Nur Omar Mohamed, when she was 17 years old.

That would have been five years after she left Somalia as a “child war refugee,” the description Mynett used while speaking to Fox News Digital.
Omar has continued denying allegations of immigration fraud as HSI examines her immigration paperwork and agents raid her home.
“For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation,” Omar posted to X on Monday.
The immigration investigation is not the only federal scrutiny surrounding Omar. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced Tuesday that her office is also investigating Omar’s financial disclosures following reporting about the shared net worth of Omar and Mynett.
Questions about Omar’s finances intensified after her 2024 congressional financial disclosure listed business interests connected to Mynett with values ranging from $6 million to $30 million.
Omar’s office later said those figures were incorrect and amended the filing.
The largest revision involved Mynett’s reported assets. His ownership interests in both a winery and a venture capital advisory firm, previously listed as being worth millions of dollars, are now listed with no value.
In the original 2024 disclosure records, Mynett’s share of the winery was valued between $1 million and $5 million.
His share of the venture capital advisory firm was valued between $5 million and $25 million, but both equity interests are now listed at $0.
Omar’s office previously told Fox News Digital that Mynett has partners in both businesses. The office said the earlier filing mistakenly reflected the businesses’ total equity rather than Mynett’s individual ownership interest.
The office also said the original filing listed assets without accounting for liabilities. Those explanations accompanied a dramatic revision from business interests valued in the millions to equity interests carrying no listed value.
Omar now faces federal scrutiny on two fronts, with HSI investigating her immigration pathway while Pirro’s office examines her financial disclosures. Mynett, meanwhile, is publicly brushing aside concerns even as agents search the couple’s home and subpoenas reach multiple members of Omar’s family.
