Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-05) turned a Minneapolis green room into a showcase of left-wing awkwardness when she sat down with socialist streamer Hasan Piker. The Minnesota congresswoman released video of the pair chatting on a couch, a setup that quickly looked less like politics and more like a dreadful dating show.
The chummy exchange featured [1] complaints about media attention, compliments about charisma, and a discussion of whether political opponents might receive better coverage if they were more attractive. It was every bit as uncomfortable as that description sounds.
The account End Wokeness reacted to the video with a pointed jab: “Ilhan Omar is sitting next to Hasan Piker and openly flirting with him. Don’t let her brother see this.”
Piker’s outfit also drew attention, looking like something M. Bison might select during a shopping trip to Burlington Coat Factory. Combined with the cozy couch arrangement, the scene had the atmosphere of an audition for the world’s most insufferable left-wing dating program.
Piker began by complaining about the cold and the media attention following the pair. He described them as “just normal Americans trying to go about our day-to-day and trying to organize against the Trump administration.”
That attempt at presenting the duo as ordinary was quite a sales pitch. One is a socialist streamer, while the other is a congresswoman””” under federal investigation.
Omar then offered her explanation for why cameras appeared so interested in them. “They just look really good on their screens. That’s why they like having [us]. You think that’s why they get you?”
The response leaned directly into the compliment. “Yeah, they’re like, she’s so charismatic. I think… I can see that 100%. I agree with that.”
Piker then offered his analysis of the opposition’s appearance. “We get tired of looking at their, you know, Botox faces, so let’s see if we can get someone nice and natural.”
The conversation promptly became even stranger. “So you’re saying if the fascists were hotter then they would get more… There would be less of us on TV.”

Apparently, this is where modern Marxist political theory has landed. The revolution may be televised, but only if its participants believe they look sufficiently attractive on the screen.
The couch banter carried added political significance because some of Omar’s fellow Minnesota Democrats wanted nothing to do with her appearance alongside Piker. As RedState’s Ward Clark reported Monday, the event exposed a division inside Minnesota’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party just days before the midterm elections.
Rep. Angie Craig (MN-02) called Piker’s rhetoric “polarizing and dangerous.” Craig also declared that embracing him was “a mistake.”
Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s (D-MN) gubernatorial campaign took a similarly critical position. The campaign described several of Piker’s previous statements as “reckless and unacceptable.”
Other Democrat officials, including members of the party’s Jewish caucus, called for the event to be canceled. Their objections came amid renewed attention to some of Piker’s most notorious previous remarks.
Piker previously declared that “America deserved 9/11,” although he later walked back the comment. During an appearance on Pod Save America, he also said he would “vote for Hamas over Israel every single time.”
Those remarks help explain why Minnesota Democrats were hardly united in celebrating Omar’s decision to appear with him. Even members of her own party publicly warned that embracing Piker and his rhetoric was a serious mistake.
The green room couch, meanwhile, became the silent victim of the entire spectacle. No amount of feng shui could rescue it from the political toxicity, forced flirting, and revolutionary vanity produced by Omar and Piker.
