Sen. Bernie Moreno issued a stark warning to Republican voters ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, arguing that staying home would effectively help radical socialists, political extremists, and people hostile to America seize power.
The Ohio Republican discussed the political landscape and the GOP path to victory during a Breitbart News Fight Club Roundtable on Thursday. Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow and Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle hosted the conversation.
Marlow noted that Moreno is not personally on the ballot this cycle but still has a major interest in Republican success. He also argued that voting is already effectively underway even though Election Day is November 3.
Marlow described a disconnect between economic numbers he called strong and the gloomy public mood. He also questioned why many Americans appear discouraged despite his view that conditions are not going as badly as the prevailing political sentiment suggests.
Moreno acknowledged that voters have legitimate concerns about the cost of living. He said goods have become roughly a third more expensive during the past six years, leaving Americans feeling as though they cannot make meaningful financial progress.
He illustrated that change with basic household math, saying an item that once cost $10 now costs $13, while something formerly priced at $100 now costs $130. “And that feeling is 100% legitimate,” Moreno said.
Moreno then placed most of the blame for that inflation on the previous administration. “Here’s the challenge though: 80% of that inflation happened during Biden,” he said, drawing a clear political line over responsibility for the lingering burden on families.

The senator also addressed the Iran War, which Marlow had raised while discussing the wider national mood. Moreno said he would have preferred avoiding the conflict but argued that the United States had no choice because Iran was going to build and use a nuclear weapon.
“Now, of course, we would’ve preferred not to have had to go into Iran, but we had no choice. They were going to build a nuclear weapon. They were going to use a nuclear weapon,” Moreno said.
Moreno conceded that current gas prices are too high. He predicted they would collapse as soon as the conflict in Iran ends and said the fighting would conclude quickly, declaring, “This is the opposite of a forever conflict.”
For Republican voters frustrated by prices, Moreno argued that electing Democrats would not produce cheaper gasoline. “Gas prices are up because that’s what they want as a matter of policy,” he said.
He made the same case on border security and crime, pointing to the Biden years when discussing the border. Moreno said voters should not choose Democrats if they want a secure border or lower crime.

Moreno also listed what he described as Republican accomplishments. He said prescription drug prices had fallen to their lowest level since 1963, the federal workforce had been reduced by almost 400,000 employees, and that reduction amounted to a permanent tax cut for Americans.
The senator further said Republicans achieved aggressive tax cuts while facing Democratic obstruction. He called the result a historic tax cut and said trillions of dollars in investment were coming into the United States.
Moreno’s final pitch centered on turnout rather than complicated campaign strategy. He called on every patriotic American who loves the country to vote on November 3 or before, just as they did in November 2024.
“You not showing up is a vote for the socialists, for the radicals, for the anti-America haters,” Moreno said. He concluded that Republican victory depends on everyone who participated in 2024 returning to vote in 2026.
