A Wednesday night candidates’ forum in Yonkers descended into chaos when Democratic contender Kisha Skipper became involved in a bathroom brawl with the mother of her Republican opponent. The confrontation erupted [1] during an event focused on a Westchester County legislative race.
Skipper is seeking to unseat GOP Westchester County Legislator James Nolan. According to reports, police handcuffed and detained the Democratic candidate following the violent restroom scuffle at the Beczak Environmental Center in the suburban city.
The confrontation involved Nolan’s mother, Donna Nolan, and unfolded during a break in the candidates’ forum. What began as an argument inside the bathroom spiraled out of control, with punches eventually flying, according to local outlet Black Westchester.
The outlet reported that the episode began after Skipper was questioned during the debate about alleged questionable campaign donations. Skipper took a bathroom break without answering, and Donna Nolan and another woman allegedly followed her into the restroom.
Mobile phone video captured several women confronting one another near the entrance to the restroom. Several people attending the event could be seen separating the women as the confrontation spilled into view outside the bathroom.
James Nolan responded publicly after the melee, delivering a blunt assessment of the conduct expected from anyone pursuing elected office. He argued that physical aggression has no place in a political campaign or public service.
“There is absolutely no justification for violence,” Nolan posted on Instagram. “Anyone seeking public office is expected to demonstrate sound judgment, self-control, and the ability to handle confrontation without resorting to physical aggression.
“These standards are not optional,” he wrote. “This is a clear example of why she is not fit to serve public office.”

Skipper offered her own public account in an early morning Facebook post. The post showed her wearing a sling on her arm while standing at the entrance to a hospital emergency room.
“Let me just say, I know there’s a lot of video, a lot of misinformation being spread,” she said. Skipper then disputed any claim that she had been arrested while acknowledging that police had detained her.
“No, I was not arrested. Yes, I was detained pending an investigation. Of course, I was released, and there will be more information forthcoming.”
Reports said Skipper was handcuffed and detained by officers after the restroom fight. Her Facebook statement emphasized the distinction between being detained during the investigation and being formally arrested, while promising that additional information would later be released.
Donna Nolan was transported from the event to a hospital by ambulance. No details were immediately available about any injuries she may have suffered during the confrontation.
Skipper’s appearance in a sling at the emergency room entrance indicated that she also sought hospital attention after the incident.
The bathroom fight rapidly overshadowed the candidates’ forum and the campaign discussion that preceded it. Instead of a routine political event, attendees witnessed several women confronting one another while others stepped in to separate them.
The confrontation placed the conduct of a candidate and the family of her opponent at the center of the Westchester County legislative contest. Nolan condemned the violence and questioned Skipper’s fitness for office, while Skipper rejected reports that she had been arrested.
