Roseanne Barr is not hiding her enormous crush on Randy Quaid, her costar in Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable. The comedian joked that her feelings were so intense that she wanted Quaid to leave his wife and marry her instead, as reported by Yahoo [1].
Barr, 73, made the playful confession while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter to promote Roseanne, her new comeback comedy series. Quaid, 76, plays her romantic interest in the sitcom.
The complication is that Quaid has been married to his wife, Evi, since 1989. That did not stop Barr from sharing her blunt fantasy about exchanging their scripted romance for a marriage of their own.
“I’m in love with him, and I wish he would leave his wife and marry me,” Barr said.

Her affection for Quaid apparently influenced what viewers will see between their characters. Barr said she created additional kissing scenes for herself and Quaid because she enjoyed their romantic moments during production.
“I enjoyed making out with him so much that I wrote extra scenes where we would make out,” she continued.
The declaration added an especially cheeky note to Barr’s effort to promote her return to comedy. Rather than limit the conversation to the series itself, she openly described her attraction to the actor playing her romantic interest.

Barr’s remarks about Quaid were not the only striking comments to emerge from the interview. She also returned to the subject of her May 2018 ousting from the Roseanne sitcom reboot, The Conners.
Her removal followed a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, a former official in the Obama administration. While discussing what happened afterward, Barr spoke bitterly about how the sitcom handled the fate of her character.
According to Barr, the first episode included Dan and Roseanne engaging in what she described as a drug deal. She said she had wanted the program to address the opioid crisis in the country.
“They decided to kill me with opioids because in the first episode of that, Dan and Roseanne are kind of making a drug deal,” she recalled.
Barr then connected that story element to the way her character was killed. She described the opioid overdose plot with sarcasm and contrasted it with other grim scenarios that the show could have chosen.
“I really wanted to talk about the opioid crisis in our country. So they killed me with an opioid overdose. Wow, I’m really grateful that they didn’t have me robbing an orphanage or raping some kids. That was a nice way to kill America’s mom. Drug overdose.”
The comments showed that Barr continues to view the character’s death with bitterness. Her description focused both on her original desire to discuss the opioid crisis and on the specific overdose storyline used to remove Roseanne.

The interview also touched on Barr’s attempts to secure financing for her independently produced new series. She revealed that she had contacted Elon Musk because she hoped he might help finance the project.
Those efforts did not produce the response Barr wanted. According to the comedian, Musk had neither called her nor returned the calls she made while seeking his assistance with the series.
“I don’t know why he hasn’t called me or returned my calls,” she said. “I mean, of all people on Earth, I’m the one he should call, but I don’t know.”
Between her unabashed crush on Quaid, the extra kissing scenes she wrote and her unanswered approach to Musk, Barr offered a characteristically blunt account of her comeback effort. She was equally direct when looking back at the sitcom ousting that continues to draw her anger.
Her most playful revelation remained the romantic one. Although Quaid has been married to Evi since 1989, Barr made clear that her enjoyment of kissing her costar was strong enough to inspire more scenes and a joking marriage proposal.
