Nick Shirley said the latest election results should serve as a warning to Republicans, Democrats and independents, arguing that the midterms exposed major weaknesses in Republican messaging while showing how effectively Democrats used younger candidates and social media to focus on affordability and other voter concerns.
Shirley began by acknowledging the outcome directly.
“Well, well, well. I think last night was actually a wake-up call for the right, left, and the center. Now, hear me out. Republicans, they obviously lost, and Democrats won by like a lot. My job as a journalist is to show you guys what’s happening and what’s going on, and then for you to make your own opinions.”
He said Republicans hurt themselves by running candidates who lacked name recognition and by failing to center their campaigns on issues voters cared about most.
“So yeah, Republicans lost. They ran candidates that actually nobody even really knew who they were, and they didn’t even focus on the main issues. A lot of people just wanted the Iran war over, affordability, and the Epstein files be released, and issues like Israel to be a non-issue here inside the United States, and they lost.”
Shirley contrasted that approach with the Democratic strategy, which he said leaned more heavily on younger candidates, economic concerns, and social media.
“And Democrats, on the other hand, ran candidates that were focused more on the core message of affordability, a lot younger, and they knew how to use social media so that way their message would get views and therefore eventually get votes, and it worked very well.”
He argued, however, that the tone began to change after the election.
“Now this is a wake-up call for everyone because let’s point out some of the stuff that we’re seeing now. I found this one to be pretty revealing as to what these people actually support, and really quick, the message went from affordability and healthcare to all to lawyer up, and we’re gonna put you in jail.”
Shirley said he has personally received threats of legal consequences related to his reporting on alleged fraud and corruption.
“I even have people right now telling me that I’ll be going to jail for exposing the fraud and corruption here inside the United States. It’s a bit strange, right?”
He then pointed to Minnesota, where he said voters elected someone who owns a daycare with multiple violations, and argued that exposing government fraud should not be treated as a partisan issue.
“And in Minnesota, they even elected somebody who owns a daycare that has multiple violations. They literally elected a leader. And I remember going exposing this fraud and corruption, thinking that all sides are going to be excited. And all of a sudden, it became super controversial.”
Shirley also referenced his testimony before the Senate.
“I go testify in front of the Senate, and no one from the Democrat side even shows up. I don’t think most issues that are going on inside the United States actually need to be right or left. It’s just what’s right and what’s wrong.”
He then turned to Abdul El-Sayed, pointing to how the Michigan politician presented his name during the campaign and after it.
“And I think we’re starting to see a lot of people start to reveal themselves for who they really are. One guy ran as Abdul El Sayed the whole entire time, and then all of a sudden he starts saying his name.”
In a video clip, El-Sayed stated:
“My name is Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed.”
Shirley responded by questioning why that full name had not been used more prominently during the campaign.
“Well, you never heard him say that when he was on his campaign trail.”
He then broadened his criticism to what he described as an increasingly unstable political environment.
“I personally think we’re living in a super crazy time here inside the United States, where you have poll workers openly mocking the death of Charlie Kirk at the polls, and then you also have a party who didn’t see anything wrong with a moment with a mother who killed three of her children, and you actually have people supporting her during that time.”
Shirley also alleged widespread problems in government programs and public institutions.
“Fraud is rampant across the United States, leaders are taking money left and right, and our welfare programs and our government programs are just literally full of fraud.”
He said Republicans will need to rethink both their message and candidate selection after the election results.
“And Republicans, they’re going to have to start shifting their message as far as what they want to do for the country and where they’re going to go and who they’re going to start electing in the upcoming years. Because if you didn’t realize from this election, they were very, very off.”
Shirley closed by pointing to rhetoric he said he had seen from political opponents after their victories.
“And lastly, these are some of the messages from the side that won that I think are very, very concerning. As quite literally, they’re celebrating openly, saying it’s time to kill us all.”
Despite those concerns, Shirley said he intends to continue reporting on the issues he has been covering.
“So, for me, I’m personally gonna keep going, showing you guys what’s going on. I hope you all come along the journey with me, and I’ll take you guys with me to the source.”
