The Democratic National Committee faced criticism in July after posting a chart on X intended to show rising grocery prices under President Donald Trump.
The chart, however, reflected price increases that occurred during President Joe Biden’s administration. The post was deleted after screenshots circulated widely.
The DNC chart showed grocery costs rising significantly in recent years.

This week, Sen. Amy Klobuchar posted a separate chart on social media addressing electricity costs.
In her post, Klobuchar stated that utility bills had increased by 11% under Trump.
The chart referenced a rise in past-due balances and was presented as evidence of higher power costs.
Under President Trump, electricity prices are surging — up 11%! — leaving millions behind on their utility bills, with past-due balances at an all-time high.

Trump – green block. pic.twitter.com/MUSFHDyJ1m— Frank Nero (@francoboca) November 26, 2025
The two incidents drew attention because both posts presented economic claims tied to the period before January 2021 while displaying data from later years.
The circulation of the posts and subsequent corrections generated a large volume of responses on social media platforms.
The discussion surrounding the DNC and Klobuchar posts followed ongoing public debate regarding inflation, grocery costs, gas prices, and utility bills.
The period from 2021 onward saw increases across multiple consumer categories, drawing continued scrutiny from elected officials, economists, and public analysts.
Public responses highlighted the timelines presented in the graphics and questioned the accuracy of attributing the reflected cost increases to the Trump administration.
Screenshots of the July DNC graphic and Klobuchar’s electricity-cost chart continued to circulate as users compared the original posts with corrected versions showing the dates in which the price increases occurred.
