Nancy Pelosi Is Heckled By Protesters Demanding Trump Impeachment During Award Dinner

Nancy Pelosi got some bad news this week when liberal protesters who are sick and tired of her reluctance when it comes to impeaching President Donald Trump let their frustrations with her be known when they disrupted a “Heart of the Resistance” dinner where the California Democrat was receiving a lifetime achievement award. The protesters loudly heckled Pelosi, claiming that she does not deserve an award unless she fights to impeach Trump.

Fox News reported that the liberal protesters gathered outside the ritzy InterContinental Hotel in San Francisco, which was hosting the awards show, to demand Pelosi support impeaching Trump.

“If Speaker Pelosi does not lead on impeachment, she won’t leave a legacy of resistance like many other San Francisco Democrats,” said CREDO Action campaign manager Nicole Regalado as she led a crowd of demonstrators outside the hotel. “She will leave a legacy of failure by not fighting against one of the biggest threats to our families and communities.”

The crowd chanted things like “Nancy Pelosi do your job,” among other things.

Some protesters managed to get into the event, which was being held by San Francisco Democrats. The group’s campaign manager Thaís Marques was one of the people who was able to get inside.

“Speaker Pelosi, I am undocumented. My community is being targeted by ICE and killed by white supremacists. Fight for my community and impeach Trump NOW. We can’t wait. Impeach Trump,” Marques said as he heckled her. His fellow protesters held signs that said things like “We can’t wait” and “Time to impeach.”

Pelosi spoke over the protesters, who were eventually escorted off the premises by San Francisco police. Afterwards, Marques spoke out to vent her frustrations about how the night went, saying that she feels Democrats have been all talk when it comes to impeaching Trump.

“I expected her, and the other attendees, to at least hear me out, but I literally screamed into a void of privilege, complacency and denial,” she said. “Pelosi’s refusal to hear me speaks volumes about the limits of today’s Democratic Party, which congratulates itself on hating Trump but is unwilling to act to rein him in.”

Politico reported that this comes one month after Pelosi rebuffed House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler for pushing to launch impeachment proceedings against Trump during a closed door meeting. When Nadler suggested that several House committee chiefs start drafting articles of impeachment against Trump, Pelosi reportedly shut him down immediately.
