Obamas Come Under Fire – Buying $15 MILLION Estate After Years of Decrying ‘Excessive’ Wealth

Barack and Michelle Obama are buying an estate in Martha’s Vineyard from Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck for nearly $15 million, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The sprawling estate boasts a home with seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The main residence is a whopping 7,000 square feet. Outside of the main house is 29 acres that all boast beachfront access, a massive pool, a chef’s kitchen, and two guest houses.

The former First Family reportedly fell in love with the home, after renting it from the NBA owner.

“It’s a remarkable home on an absolutely gorgeous setting,” listing agent Tom Wallace said. “Privacy is a key feature of the property. It certainly has the capacity to expand to more of a compound. One could build two additional full-size properties if one wanted to create a generational meeting place.”

There’s little doubt that the Obamas’ daughters will enjoy the property during their summer breaks. 21-year-old Malia is currently a student at Harvard University. 18-year-old Sasha is off to college in the fall, although the family has not announced where she will be headed just yet. According to some reports, however, she will be headed to the University of Michigan.

The Obama family members are no strangers to Martha’s Vineyard, having spent seven summers there while Barack was president.

The home they are purchasing was originally listed on the market back in 2016 for $22.5 million, but has since been reduced in price.

The Obamas have come under scrutiny for their big purchase, given Barack’s history of denouncing excessive wealth. While he was president, he regularly attempted to demonize the wealthy and said,  “I do think, at some point you’ve made enough money.” He also famously told those trying to build their wealth, “You didn’t build that,” referring to small businesses.

People went off on the former First Family on Twitter:
