Obama And Clinton Stay Silent On Megadonor Ed Buck’s Donations After He’s Arrested

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have yet to publicly state what they will do with the money they received from Democratic megadonor Ed Buck after he was arrested on Tuesday and charged with running a drug house where two men died of overdoses.

While other top Democrats tossed aside donations they received from Buck months ago, Obama and Clinton have yet to address them in any way.

Fox News reported that Buck has donated over $500,000 to various Democratic candidates and groups, including tens of thousands of dollars to California candidates like Governor Gavin Newsom. An investigation was launched into Buck back in January, when 55-year-old Timothy Dean was found dead of an accidental methamphetamine overdose in his apartment. This was the second such death in Buck’s home in two years, following the July 2017 death of Gemmel Moore, 26.

Many top Democrats cut ties with Buck as soon as the January investigation was launched, with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) saying that it was “deeply disturbed” by Buck’s alleged conduct. The DCCC proceeded to donate his thousands of dollars of contributions to the NALEO Education Fund.

Other powerful Democratic lawmakers followed suit and announced plans get rid of his campaign donations.

“I am deeply disturbed by the latest revelations of a second death by overdose at the home of Ed Buck,” California Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu, adding that he would donate more than $18,000 in contributions to civil rights charities.

“I received a campaign contribution from Ed Buck and have donated the amount I received to a local charity, the Kenneth Young Center, to combat drug addiction,” Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi of Illinois also said in a statement earlier in 2019.

Despite this, Obama and Clinton have each remained silent on the money they received from Buck. Not only did spokespeople for Obama and Clinton refuse to comment after the investigation into Buck was launched back in January, they also refused to comment following his arrest today. Federal records show that Buck donated at least $1,500 to Obama and $2,950 to Clinton.

Prosecutors have accused Buck of using his power to manipulate male victims into participating in sexual fetishes that involved injecting them with meth. After his arrest, prosecutors called for him to  held on $4 million bail because he is a “violent, dangerous sexual predator” who offered drugs, money and shelter to mainly addicted and homeless men in exchange for participating in his disturbing drug-related sexual fantasies. They added that Buck “has no regard for human life.”
