Ilhan Omar Blasts Trump After He Attacks Democrats Over Minneapolis Rally

Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar fired back at President Donald Trump today after he blasted Democratic officials in her state for trying to block his reelection during a rally in Minneapolis.

USA Today reported that Trump went after Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey over the security charges for the Thursday campaign event.

“The radical leftist mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, is abusing the power of his office and attempting to extort President Trump’s re-election campaign by conjuring a phony and outlandish bill for security in an effort to block a scheduled Keep America Great rally,” Trump’s team wrote in a campaign email that went out on Monday.

Omar wasted no time in firing back at Trump on Twitter.

“Minnesota stands for peace, equity, and justice — everything you are against,” she wrote to Trump. “While you spew hate, we will keep fighting for the America we deserve.”

Her tweet came hours after Trump slammed Frey on Twitter.

“Someone please tell the Radical Left Mayor of Minneapolis that he can’t price out Free Speech. Probably illegal!” Trump tweeted Tuesday morning. “I stand strongly & proudly with the great Police Officers and Law Enforcement of Minneapolis and the Great State of Minnesota! See you Thursday Night!”

“The lightweight mayor is hurting the great police and other wonderful supporters. 72,000 ticket requests already,” Trump had tweeted earlier in the morning. “Dump Frey and Omar! Make America Great Again!”

Frey, who has said that Trump is banned from attending the rally on Thursday, also responded to the president on Twitter.

“Someone tell the President of the United States that he can afford to help pay for the extra time our officers will be putting in while he’s in town,” Frey wrote.

“Since taking office President Trump’s actions have been reprehensible and his rhetoric has made it clear that he does not value the perspectives or rights of Minneapolis’ diverse communities,” Frey added in a statement.

Unfortunately for Omar and Frey, some social media users have responded by reminding them that they should be focusing on helping the people of Minneapolis rather than on taking Trump down.

“Out of 25 cities with concerning violent crime statistics, Minneapolis ranked 25,” one social media user commented. “With a violent crime rate of 1,063 reported incidents for every 100,000 residents, nearly three times the corresponding national rate, Minneapolis is one of the most dangerous cities in the country.”
