President Trump And Melania Send Christmas Message To America

President Donald and Melania Trump took to Twitter to wish the American people a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

“The president and I want to wish each and every American a very merry Christmas,” Melania says to start the video off, according to Fox Business.

As the Trumps speak, the video cuts from the two of them to various scenes of the White House decorated for Christmas. President Trump then steps in to explain the meaning of Christmas, and why it’s such an important holiday to Americans.

“At this sacred time of year, Christians celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and rejoice in his love for every person,” Trump said. “We give thanks to the millions of Americans who come together to care for others with compassion and bring the warmth and bliss of this holy season to our families, our friends, our neighbors and to those in need.”

Melania went on to bring up various groups that deserve thanks for their service, including police officers, members of the military, and those working in all aspects of law enforcement.

President Trump made a point of calling for prayers for those serving overseas.

“We renew our hope for peace among nations and joy to the world,” he concluded. “On behalf of the entire Trump family, we wish everyone a joyous and merry Christmas and a very happy, happy New Year.”

Merry Christmas!

Reactions to the Christmas message were mixed. Many liberals responded by directly slamming the Trumps.

“All I want for Christmas is the headline ‘Donald Trump arrested and charged with bribery, campaign finance crimes, wire fraud and obstruction of justice,'” tweeted comedian Dean Obeidallah. “The bonus would be a headline underneath which reads, “Trump denied bail-must remain in prison until trial.”

However, conservatives were much more responsive to the Christmas message, and defended the Trumps on social media.

“On the day that we celebrate peace and goodwill toward all of mankind, unmitigated hatred from the left. It isn’t even surprising anymore. It’s expected,” publisher Scott Buttram tweeted. “God bless you all!’

This just goes to show how divided our nation remains, even on Christmas.
