Melania Trump Gets Blasted For ‘Tone Deaf’ Advice To Parents Working From Home During Coronavirus Pandemic

First Lady Melania Trump has come under fire after she gave advice to parents working from home during the coronavirus pandemic that some found to be “tone deaf.”

“While most children are at home during this challenging time, they tend to be on social media throughout the day,” “Parents, please be sure to check on them regularly to be sure they’re practicing online safety.”

Melania has made online safety for children a cornerstone of her Be Best campaign, so it comes as no surprise that she would use her tweet to call for parents to stay vigilant about it. However, many internet users took offense with Melania’s tweet, claiming it was “tone deaf.”

“I’d check on @realDonaldTrump then, Mel. He’s making everyone less safe by being online,” one social media user commented, with another adding, “I’m sure everyone is grateful to be receiving parenting advice from you.”

“Kids here are currently home until at least May 15th and yet your husband wants to send everyone back to work in 2 weeks,” a third user wrote. “What are parents supposed to do then? How can that #BeBest for children? I don’t expect an answer.”

This comes after Melania released a PSA addressing the coronavirus pandemic.

“Today I want to speak with you about coronavirus and what it means for you and your family,” Melania said in the PSA. “While changes need to be made now, this is not how we’ll live forever. Our children will return to school, people will return to work, we will gather at the places of worship, concerts, and sporting events again.”

While Melania has received quite a bit of backlash for her comments on coronavirus, not all of the feedback she has gotten has been negative.

“We LOVE our First Lady!” one user commented on her PSA. “Our first lady has fled a communist country, came to the US as an immigrant, became an American citizen, and now is our First Lady— she speaks five languages and exhibits grace on the world stage! She is the epitome of the American dream!”

This just shows once again that Melania is one of the most polarizing First Ladies that we have ever had.
