Barack And Michelle Spotted Out Dining With Hollywood A-Listers Steven Spielberg And Tom Hanks

Former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle went full Hollywood this week, as they were spotted out in California on Sunday night having dinner with some A-list stars.

The Obamas were reportedly invited to the $26 million Pacific Palisades mansion of Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson for dinner at 7PM on Sunday. The other attendees to this dinner were A-list director Steven Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw, as well as the rocker Bruce Springsteen and his wife Patti Scialfa.

It must have been one good party, because the group “kept the party going till well after midnight” and into the early hours of Monday morning, according to Page Six.

The couples have all been friends going all the way back to when Obama was in office. During his presidency, Obama even awarded each of the three men the Medal of Freedom, bestowing the honor on Spielberg in 2015 and the other two men the next year. The Obamas have also gone on vacations with both the Hanks and the Springsteens in the past.

In a 2017 interview with late night host Stephen Colbert, Hanks talked about how the three couples travelled to French Polynesia together with a few other people, including Oprah Winfrey.

Referring to the publicity surrounding this vacation, Hanks joked at the time, “Both Oprah and I were really pissed off because, is this where we are in the world?”

“Is this what’s going on with social media that Oprah and I cannot go on a billionaire’s boat to Tahiti with a former president of the United States and not keep it secret for God’s sake?” he added, according to Travel + Leisure magazine.

Since moving out of the White House in 2016, the Obamas have become fixtures in Hollywood, as they signed a lucrative deal with the streaming service Netflix back in 2018.

“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience,” Barack said at the time, according to Variety.

“That’s why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix — we hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world,” he added.

Michelle was outspoken about her excitement over the deal as well.

“Barack and I have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire us, to make us think differently about the world around us, and to help us open our minds and hearts to others,” she said. “Netflix’s unparalleled service is a natural fit for the kinds of stories we want to share, and we look forward to starting this exciting new partnership.”
